chris55552 Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Who makes the most sensitive rod at around 150? Quote
Ozark_Basser Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 For someone to know the answer to this question, they would have to have fished every rod in that price range....that's a whole lot of rods lol. Whichever one is the lightest weight with the highest modulous blank, would be my bet. If it were me, I'd be looking at 13 omens, Fenwick, okuma TCS, and for a little more coin, phenix m1 or bass recon. Quote
Mr Swim Jig Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 There are a lot of great rods in this price range. 3 of my favorites are *** *** Black, Fenwick Aetos and Daiwa Tatula rods. All of these rods can be found for Under $150.... My favorite of the 3 is the Daiwa Tatula rods.... Quote
ak47soulja22 Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Thats opening up a can of worms.... I would said the best 150 dollar rod will prob be a used 200-250 dollar rod. If your stuck on new good luck there are a lot of good rods out there. 1 Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted June 5, 2015 Super User Posted June 5, 2015 Sensitivity is subjective as it is more than just vibration transmission down the blank. I've fished with rods that were very sensitive to me and others found them not to be very good because of things like comfort. You can have the most sensitive rod in the world and if the reel seat feels bad in your hand, you end up not really feeling much because the focus is gone. That said, if you find a Fenwick Aetos for $150, (I can't find to many models for that) I'd say that is a good bet, I have 3 of them, 2 casting and a spinning and they have sensitivity in spades but if you don't like the skeleton reel seat, you won't feel the same way. Another is the Elite Tech Bass in the Fenwick line up, these are $150 and while they are more powerful than the smallmouth series they replaced, they managed to keep the sensitivity. The Daiwa Tatula is another, I haven't used one but one thing that is consistent in reviews is the praise anglers give it for sensitivity. Another option is to look on ebay and see if anyone has old stock Powell Max or better yet, and Endurance, should be in the $150 range and those are really good as well. 1 Quote
jtesch Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Tatula is a very sensitive rod at that price point, Fenwick Elite Tech is good as well. Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted June 5, 2015 Super User Posted June 5, 2015 My local tackle shop has the aetos for 99$ if you want to go that route. Familarize yourself with the sk2 reel seat first. It is personally the worst reel seat ever made Quote

Super User Tywithay Posted June 5, 2015 Super User Posted June 5, 2015 Look for a used KLX. Nothing else comes close at that price 1 Quote

Global Moderator Mike L Posted June 6, 2015 Global Moderator Posted June 6, 2015 Check out a Fenwick Techna AV if you can find one. If you do it'll be a lot less than 150.00. In my hands, it's as sensative a rod than some in the 250.00 range. Mike 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted June 6, 2015 Super User Posted June 6, 2015 You guys are giving the OP lots advice and don't have a clue if the rod is spinning or casting, used for underwater lure presentations or whatever else the "sensitive rod" is going to be used for???? Meaningless question. Tom 2 Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted June 6, 2015 Global Moderator Posted June 6, 2015 You're right of course, I assumed he was asking about a bottom contact plastics rod. Most of the time that is what these type of questions are geared too...But I could be wrong. OP...See above Mike Quote
Super User lmbfisherman Posted June 7, 2015 Super User Posted June 7, 2015 I would agree most of the time it is asked for bottom contact. I am partial to the Astos series and i can get them for 149. Everyday. For 99.99 that is a steal! Quote
beagle 25 Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 I love the 7'3" mh *** *** last year that was my go to jig rod but I broke the end off of it when I hooked it with a square bill I was fishing last fall in my little 8' plastic boat I was heartbroken haven't had the extra funds to replace it until a couple weeks ago but that's when I found out about the *** 2s coming out so I think I'll wait until august but I still have the 7'1"H that is doing a good job as a replacement for now but can't wait until august Quote
Turkey sandwich Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 For $150 there are some great options, but the best Rod is all about preferences and knowing what you want in the rod. Do you like micro-guides? What are you using it for/what areyour preferences as far as action/blanks? Do you prefer cork or foam handles? Have you felt St. Croix's composite/neoprene/next generation grips? Do you prefer exposed blank or full length handles? How important is warranty/customer service? For that price range, I own a St. Croix Rage and I like it a lot. It's reasonably light, has the SCIII blank (usually reserved for rods in the $200-$250 price range) and is built with microguides and a base level next generation handle that's pretty grippy. The downside? Other than the blank it's made in Mexico. I'm very happy with that rod. That said, your tastes might differ. The good news is that now, more than ever, there are tons of great quality rods made by lots of manufacturers beginning at around $100 on up. The best suggestion I can make is to at least go to a Bass Pro Shops/Cabela's where they'll have a huge selection and at least feel/compare some rods if there's one reasonably close. Quote
SenkoGuru Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 It is very hard to beat the Duckett Micro Magic Pro at the $150 price line. 1 Quote
