Looking to get a medium light fast action spinning rod. I've been thinking about the Abu Garcia Veritas 2.0 or St. Croix Triumph, just want some opinions on what you guys think or if you have any other recommendations around 100ish dollars. Thanks

My experience with both brands tells me they will probably fish a bit heavier than most. Fenwicks offerings seem to be right on point with their specs and are an excellent value.

This^^^^^ !!  The Abu Garcia Veritas 2.0 and the St. Croix Triumph will be more like a medium, I just got a Team Lews HM85 ML-F rod and it too is a medium power rod. I will say first off, I'm partial to Fenwick rods, I have 7 now and their medium lights are pretty much spot on but that is in the Elite Tech and Aetos line ups, the HMG ML is along the same lines as the Lews, very good rod but it fishes like a medium power rod. I'll give you something to look at and I'm not doing it because they are a board sponsor, I'm doing it based on the best medium light rod for your price range from the rods listed. Take a look at the Okuma EVX-A 7' ML, they don't list a taper but they are fast actions based off of a video I saw with them and it was a rod a guy in our bass club talked highly of, but the biggest thing is it is a medium light rod and a lifetime warranty at that price point is tough to beat. When you are looking at spinning rods under $150, a true medium light is tough to get unless you get a drop shot specific rod which has a very soft tip to the point is isn't good for much else, but other than that most are medium power rods for the most part. The other thing you can do is a search for a Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth 6'9" ML-F, that is a very, very good rod, they are discontinued but you may be lucky enough to find some old stock somewhere.

I have that Triumph. For $80, you could do much worse. I have it paired with a Stradic 1000 and 10 lb braid. The rod really loads and launches 1/4 oz lures.

Might get some better responses if you fill us in on what lure weights and techniques you plan on using with the rod.

I have a St Croix LTB 6'6" ML/F, and as others have said it fishes about a 1/2 power heavier then other manufacturers ML ratings. Those ratings vary widely, with no set standard, and are very subjective. I find looking at lure weight and line ratings a better way to compare rods and find what fits my needs. I like the rod a lot, it has a soft light action to cast lightweight lures and have a lot of feel, but still a great backbone for a lighter rod.

Like Cgrinder I have a Triumph in the rack as well and for the price range think its a good rod.

X2 on the Elite Tech 6'9 ML fast. It is the ONLY spinning rod I have two of, as I believe it is really that good.

I have a Diawa Tatula ML/R & *** *** ML/F. I bought the Tatula on sight just because it looked the way it does.  I bought the *** because the Tatula is a "reaction" rod, which I surmised is made more for light treble hook lures than soft baits that require 'feel'.

Both are great for throwing 1/4 oz and lighter baits (not much lighter...).  Both are sensitive, with the advantage going to the ***.  The Tatula's build quality and feel are exceptional, not that the *** lacks at all.

I've mounted Cores and *** reels to both with #20 braid and find any combination casts great.  I find myself using the *** more because it casts weightless finess baits a little better than the Tatula and just feels better than the Tatula.

I've been doing some research and I'm set on either getting a Fenwick or an Okuma.
