CDMeyer Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 I was wondering if I am seeing beds up shallow with no fish on them at the time is there any thing you guys look for to tell the difference between bluegill and bass beads. I have seen fish on beds right now but I have seen both bass and bluegill. And I can't seem to fiqure out if I pull up in an area and see beds if they a bass or bluegill. Would bluegill have more beds in one area? That is my thought in it. Thanks for the help Quote
C0lt Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 If the shallows are pock marked with a dozen or so different small beds then its most likely bluegill beds, especially if theyre only a few feet off shore. The bass beds tend to be larger, more spread out, and further from the shore line (not deep by any means, just not right against land). Quote

KayakBasser Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Yeah, bluegill beds will be a lot closer together, and obviously smaller. Quote
smr_hga Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 Most bluegill beds are very close to the bank. While bass beds are typically farther out. So probably Bluegill Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted June 12, 2015 Super User Posted June 12, 2015 Bluegills. Bass do not bunch up like that in open areas. Quote
