Super User Oregon Native Posted June 4, 2015 Super User Posted June 4, 2015 Got to spend some time last week down below the Ft Meyers area. Both out and sea and on the beach. Truly amazing. Went out to the clear water in the boat (bout 18 miles) and got cobia, cuda, snapper...it was non stop action...amazing. And walking the beach caught snook and several other species I've never caught but seen on TV. There's one little fish called a skipjack I believe that finned me and dannnnng...stung like a bee for a couple hours!! Saw lots of fish and other stuff cruising the beach too. Would like to do it again. Tight Lines 5 Quote

Super User SirSnookalot Posted June 5, 2015 Super User Posted June 5, 2015 Nice trip, congrads. I truly wish I could take the heat /humidity to spend time down there. C22 Depends what kind of fishing you are doing. Even in some of the hottest most humid days there is nice offshore breeze, picks up as the day goes on. Seldom are there insects when fishing offshore, inshore is a different story. I don't find the heat or humid to be too bad but the noseeums can be terrible, luckily they dissipate not long after sun up. From June to mid or late October I do freshwater sparingly, I can handle the heat and humidity but I can't handle the black gnats. I got chased off 3 different places yesterday by swarming gnats, just isn't worth it to me. You name it and I tried it, found nothing to curtail the onslaught of both noseeums and gnats. Quote
Super User Oregon Native Posted June 5, 2015 Author Super User Posted June 5, 2015 Really didn't find the heat/humidity any worse than some days in Tennessee. Like SirSnookalot sad the offshore breezes are awesome .... ya fish early and late and nap in middle of day or swim or both. Those gnats have huge teeth though. Soooo much area down there to explore....so pretty. Quote
