peteryang Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 so once again im here looking for another rod. this time im looking for a rod for spinnerbaits that can possibly also handle a-rigs up to 1 1/2 or 2oz . any recommendations? Quote
georgeyew Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 The Berkley Lightning Shock Heavy rod can handle that weight class. And they are only about $50 at Walmart. You'll have to order it online though. Quote

peteryang Posted June 3, 2015 Author Posted June 3, 2015 And I'll be throwing spinners that are 3/8 almost always on it. The a rigs are a bit of a side lure to toss out. As long as it can handle my a rig currently at about 1 1/2oz it'll be fine Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted June 4, 2015 Super User Posted June 4, 2015 a 3/8oz spinnerbait and a rod to handle 1 1/2oz A-rigs are 2 different rods for me. 8 Quote
Super User tomustang Posted June 4, 2015 Super User Posted June 4, 2015 Big difference between the two Quote
tappinbass Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 I am also in the market for a spinnerbait rod. I am hoping to see many more suggestions on here. Quote

Global Moderator Mike L Posted June 4, 2015 Global Moderator Posted June 4, 2015 I use a Phenix MH/F M1 rod for spinnerbaits. I wouldn't suggest it for the A Rig tho. Don't throw one, Can't help with that. Mike Quote

peteryang Posted June 4, 2015 Author Posted June 4, 2015 Looks like I'm asking for too much here it seems. Hmm Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted June 4, 2015 Super User Posted June 4, 2015 a 3/8oz spinnerbait and a rod to handle 1 1/2oz A-rigs are 2 different rods for me. Same here. A rod that can handle an A-rig is going to be miserable to use with a 3/8oz spinnerbait, and the same in reverse. Things vary greatly between rod mfgs., but I would be hard pressed to think of any rod I own now, or have owned in the past that would be acceptable to me for either of these tasks. Quote
dam0007 Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 I throw spinner baits buzz baits and chatter baits all on the same rod. Used to use a 6'10" MH/F now a 7' MH/F. Pretty much any brand in your price range with that action will suffice. But I will say, you don't need to drop $200 you can get something in the $100 ball park that will be great. As far as A rig you need something much stronger. I use a flipping stick in the rare occasion I throw one. Quote
jtharris3 Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 I like a 6'-6" M Lightning Rod for my spinnerbaits. I mainly throw 3/8 oz. baits. Quote
stkbassn Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Just got the Loomis E6X Spinnerbait rod and it's fantastic. I was going to buy the Megabass spinnerbait rod but just didn't want to spend the extra money...I'm very pleased. I have thrown the Quadzilla on it but that's hardly an A-Rig.. Quote
