fishbear Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Anyone using these yet? I bought two, and I love the action, but no fish caught yet. Anyone catch any bass on this lure? Quote

Baconstrip Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 The Dancin Eel is a gimmick lure. Just more proof that Bill Dance has completely sold out and is now nothing more than a snakeoil salesman. Quote

What's up with the Bill Dance Venom. I've seen his show a couple of times. I thought it was a bit hokey, but I didn't realize that he was evil!! Where/What is this proof you speak of? - Matt Quote
Super User senile1 Posted May 1, 2007 Super User Posted May 1, 2007 I saw Mr. Dance using this lure on his show but I don't know anyone who has tried it. However, it is made by YUM, a reputable company. I think I'll wait for more information before I decide this is a gimmick lure. Quote
jiangtao Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 From what I've heard, good 'ole Bill has around 300 stocked lakes that he uses for his shows and the fish are all fed regularly, but before shooting a show they pretty much stop feeding them so he will always produce fish for the camera.Don't know the source my friend got that from, but it makes sense. Not bashing Bill Dance. He's already proved himself back in the day.Good enough for me,but you have to wonder why my 1987 model "Dance's eel" never made it back then? HPBB Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 You know that is not a new lure. Its made by Yum now, but the Dancin Eel was out about 15-20 years ago. he also had a Dancin craw. I still have the dancin eel and the craw is somewhere in a box of junk. never caught anything on either. when i saw these advertised as "new" my brother and me looked at each other and said " we use to have them years ago" Quote
jomatty Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 my wife thought that looked really cool so we have one. she threw it for awhile and to be honest it looked really good in the water. she hasnt caught anything on it yet and i havent got desperate enough to try it yet but the action is good and i cant really see why it wouldnt work at least ok. i mean its just a crank bait with a soft plastic tail, i dont see why a fish wouldnt eat it. that said, im not in a hurry to tie it on, and will need a pretty good reason to do so. my wife seems more willing to keep trying with it so we will see... sigep1967 Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 You know if you think about it this is probably the original swimbait Quote
slarose20 Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Heh your probably right this just might be the origional swimbait... on another note... I CAUGHT MY FIRST BASS ON THIS THING.... hats off STEVEL Quote
fishbear Posted May 6, 2007 Author Posted May 6, 2007 I caught my first bass with this lure. He crushed it, and had the whole thing in his mouth. Was not a big one, only 1.25 lbs, but he got me on the board for my tournament yesterday. On a side note, I had forgotten what a pain getting treble hooks out of the fishes mouth can be,,,,, ended up with one in my hand.... Quote
