je1946 Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 As Montanaro said, Mustad Denny Brauer. Very strong hook with a gd keeper. I snell it. Quote
kikstand454 Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 I like the tk130s from trokar. ...... but I have also really been digging the vmc hooks. DSG sometimes puts them on super clearence. I loaded up when I found them $1.50 a pack. Quote
OroBass Posted June 2, 2015 Author Posted June 2, 2015 Im surprised you guys like vmc. I have some ewg worm hooks from them and they are dull compared to gamy or owner Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted June 2, 2015 Super User Posted June 2, 2015 I recently switched to Trokar for my punching and flipping hook. I use to use Gami but the bait keeper kept becoming loose and it became annoying. 1 Quote
IneedAnewScreenName-09 Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 There is no debate for me.........Denny Brauer flipping by Mustad. BY FAR the best keeper of any brand Quote
Super User RoLo Posted June 2, 2015 Super User Posted June 2, 2015 Owner 5/0 Wide-Gap Plus Hook It sports a triangular cutting point (same as Trokar), Z-bend keeper & 3X wire. Roger Quote
basshole8190 Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 I like Vmc flipping hooks they are sticky sharp and really stout! Haven't bent one out yet on 65 lb braid. Plus the needle point style barb doesn't tear up baits as quickly at Trokars or owner imo Quote
War Eagle 44 Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 I've tried most of the popular straight shank hooks (including the Mustad) and I personally have trouble hooking fish on them consistently. My solution is the Owner Twistlock flipping hook. The Zo Wire is very nice because it's a smaller diameter hook but it still has plenty of strength. I haven't looked back since going to this hook. It improved my flipping fishing greatly. Quote
Koofy Smacker Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Paycheck hooks are the best ive ever thrown. Trokars tear the bait a lot too much Quote
Super User gardnerjigman Posted June 2, 2015 Super User Posted June 2, 2015 Did a lot of flippin weed mats last week, buddy used vmc strait shank and I used trokar straight shank. I'm telling you now, if you use the trokars, be sure you are using zman baits. That's the only bait that sharp freaking hook would pull through and snag. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted June 3, 2015 Global Moderator Posted June 3, 2015 Either the Trokar TK 130 or the Owner Twist lock with centering pin. The Owner tho is fast becoming my go to hook for almost any and all plastics. Mike Quote
FloridaBasser1 Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 A Lazor Trokar Flippin' Hook- very strong. Watch this video to learn what is the best set up- period. It's fairly quick, and will answer all your Flipping, Punching questions. Quote
