i am a big fan of stradics but to be fair, I haven't fished many other high end spinning reels because after finding the stradic i really didn't see the need to try others

patriarch is a nice reel but not much different than the lower priced supreme MGX i have as well.  haven't fished the others, but don't see $200 value in the patriarch (luckily i didn't pay that much!)

Rarenium ci4+, Daiwa Luvias get my vote. The new Stradic FK looks like it should be a lot of reel for the money.

Quantum Cabo 40

Aluminum body, protective finish, power style knob, magnetic bail trip, sealed carbon fiber/ceramic drag (30# max), smooth operation.  16 months of year round use has proven it to me.

+1 I have a Sustain FG 6000 (for saltwater) now after owning it a year I can't justify buying it over a Stradic.

The JDM Shimano Rareneium CI4+.

I have this reel (purchased it over the Stradic because of the color scheme mostly).  Bought over the winter and the first time I took it out was in late march this year and air temps were high 20's low 30's and the drag didn't work.  Got it home, looked at it and nothing was wrong and the drag was fine.  Have used it for hours and hours since then and never a problem.  Maybe some water got in it and froze?  I'm not sure, but never another problem.  Really love the reel.

IIRC, I think that I posted a pic of my 1000S in a Thread that you started about the Stradic. I think my pic got you interested in the Rareneium and I would have felt terrible if you received a lemon. I am thrilled to read that you did not.

John you are correct you first turned me to the Rarenium.  I was so mad that entire day fishing (I remeber thinking that !#&^%#@ John from BR).   But it really is a great reel and would recommend anyone looking in that price range to give it some serious thought.

My little 1000S has been great for Panfish. It looks sharp and it's smooth. I am going to buying a 2500 eventually. What size did you get?

The 2500 - I ALMOST went with the 2500S but decided against it.
