I am looking to purchase a lifhtweight spinning reel around $100. I will be pairing it with a Team Lews hm85 ml spinning rod. Does anybody have experience with both of these reels? I heard some complaints with Lews spinning reels but never this particular model. Thanks.

The Pflueger Supreme is a great reel and you'll have a hard time finding a better one at that price. I got one, the old MGX model, the 8230 from Cabelas when they had them on sale for $59.99, I should have got 3 at that price, excellent reels. I don't have experience with the Lews but the Gold seems to weigh almost the same and has some really good features, I doubt you would go wrong with either.

I do own both and also purchased the MGX on sale at 59.99. I like both and do not prefer one over the other, so might suggestive whichever you can get for the best price.

I purchased a Lew's Gold and an All Star TSR for the Wife begining of last Spring. I was afraid of her messing up my own rods/ reels. Now I find myself grabbing it everytime I go bank fishing. It's a really nice reel. Brian.

I've been fishing the Supreme's and a Lews Tournament Speed Spool side by side for a few months.   The Lews is a step down from the Gold in price, but it's an awesome reel.   I'm not sure which I like better.  They both are great.   Light and smooth and alloy frames.   So they should last a while.

Do you have the tournament pro hp that retails for $99 or the tournament high speed spin that costs $80?

I ended up ordering the tournament high speed spin in the 3000 size. I found a deal that I couldn't pass up online. It is only an ounce more than the team gold.

Sorry for the late response.   I have the high speed spin for 80ish.  Got it for 65 on ebay this past winter.   Great reel, and you will be happy with it.   I went with the 3000 also, as it was a 0.1 ounce difference between the 3000 and 2500.   But a bigger spool with the 3000.

Haha that is the same rationale that I used for my decision, and I too ordered from eBay!

I've fondled a few Lews in the store, their inshore model as well.  Didn't care for them, not actually using them my opinion could change.

The supreme, I have 3 of them with many years of service has pleased me.  Personally I think the president is both smoother and a better buy, it would be my next light duty reel.
