The Great Blue Heron Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 How does is stack up? Is it as good as say, ST Croix or Shimano? I am going to soon pick up a Tournament Lite, and I was just curious. Quote
PitchinJigz Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 I have had a couple experiences with their customer service, and it has been amazing. I can't compare them to St. Croix or Shimano, but I can assume they are just as good if not better. I had a problem with the retaining ring on my handle on my Team Lite once. They sent me a whole new carbon fiber handle. Quote
WPCfishing Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 My experiences have been positive. I own 6 Lews reels and three Lews rods. Let me make a suggestion. Buy a Tournament Pro or a Team Lite. You can buy a Tournament Pro at American Legacy Fishing for $139.00 right now while the sale is till going on. I bought 2 of them. Quote
The Great Blue Heron Posted May 31, 2015 Author Posted May 31, 2015 Let me make a suggestion. Buy a Tournament Pro or a Team Lite. Anything wrong with the $180 Tournament Lite? I'm not really interested in the two you mentioned. I want the 5.5 oz Lite without paying the $240 for the Team Lite. Quote
chelboed Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 Team Lite is readily available on popular sites for $189. It's worth it. Lew's customer service is as good as Ruger. It's the best I've had. Quote

Save $40.00 Quote

tbone1993 Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 Tournament lite is a great reel. I dont see a point in buying the lews reels that cost over $200. Their lower cost reels are just as solid as their expensive ones. Also customer service on reels doesnt really matter as a year later they're out of warranty. They've always been good with shipping rods back though. Be aware that you will break their micro guides off very often. 1 Quote

I'm surprised to see you wrote that in your post. Have you had guides break on a Lews rod? Quote
pigeonlake Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 I have the handle peel a little on a regular speed spool. I emailed pics and with in a day they responded and mailed 4 handles. I was pretty happy with the service Quote
chelboed Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 My next reel purchase will be either the Team Lite or Team Pro reel. I'm leaning towards the Pro. I want their best. I have the Team Pro...not the Team Pro Z. They're pretty much the same except mine is lighter and a 10# drag versus the newer Pro Z which has 14#. I also have the Team Lite & my opinion is one might not necessarily replace the other. The Lite has Speedcast ACB centrifugal brakes. The Pro has MSB Magnetic with 4-pin on/off centrifugal. The Pro will be more versatile with lighter baits in the wind...or baits that have a lot of surface area for quick slow-down. The Lite cranks a tad smoother out if the box (only noticeable if your hyper OCD like me) and will cast the average bait further. It's also smaller so it palms better if you have small hands. After applying Ardent reel butter to the main on both reels, they both crank like German Precision. I like the way the Pro feels in my hands actually over the Lite because my hands are big. After owning both (and a Team Lew's Red & Team Lew's Gold)...I wouldn't want to do without either. If I could only have one, it'd still be the Pro though. 1 Quote
Super User HoosierHawgs Posted June 1, 2015 Super User Posted June 1, 2015 I've heard the castability of the Tournament Lite is insane! I love my Laser MGs, SS, and Tournaments. Quote
