So I'm noticing zooms QC of their fluke Jr's have been hit or miss. The last pack I bought was full of dented and defective baits. I contacted zoom about it and they sent me 3 bags for my trouble. When I got the package, all of them were dented up as well, lol. I've tried to fish them as usual and they all seem to dart to one side. They would work on a Carolina or Texas rig but I like them weightless.

Now I'm desperately looking for an alternative as these are my usual confidence bait. Sure I could go through every bag on the shelf but I feel I shouldn't have to when I'm buying a bag of brand new plastics.

Does anyone know of a suitable alternative preferably the same profile and weight?

I have been using the SK Caffeine Shad JR's I think they are a little heavier but have some nice action weightless or the double rig. Also TW has the Owner JR Minnows on clearance for a buck and change, they come in a plastic tray and are all perfectly straight. I have not fished those much but they do have some good action.

Thanks. I've tried the caffeine Jr's and they are too heavy for my liking and I never could get used to the coffee smell.

I'll look into those owners and the Yamamoto shad shape worms. They look like they may be close enough.

River Rock Baits 4" Jointed Jerkbait, the thing is money and it probably weighs a little bit more than a 4" super fluke Jr. but that is a guess. Ever since I started using that bait in the 5" and the 4" sizes I stopped using the super fluke and super fluke jr. and it has really done a great job of catching fish. They have a nice hook slot but the claim to fame is the plastic, it is just really soft but holds up and it makes the baits really come to life, I use the Owner twist lock light hooks in a 2/0 for the 4" and a 4/0 for the 5".

Boil the baits and straighten them out, but it sucks to have to do that. I use sluggos, lake fork tackle live swimmin' slugs, and bass assassin shad assassins. All great soft jerks.

It's not that tails but the bodies themselves that have indents/craters from minor to unfishable because the action is ruined.

Second that but I especially like the Keitech Shad Impact. You'll want screw lock or light wire hooks however if you get them. They are great with Owner J light hooks.

I love the PowerTeam Lures 3.6" JP Hammershad for this - you can rig it on a 2/0 or 3/0 EWG and the flat underbelly really slows the fall rate.  The tail is jointed and has a copped ball at the end that just creates the most subtle dancing action with even the slightest current or twitch/retrieve.  When I want to swim it with a steady retrieve, I either rig it up on a standard ball jighead or my preferred weedless rigging in the Owner Flashy Swimmer in 3/0 size (3/16oz) - deadly!

If the size is too small, you can always step it up to the 4/6" size and upsize the Flashy Swimmer to the 5/0 1/4oz size.
