Baitmaker Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Making your own 3-D eyes is pretty simple and they look great. This video shows how to make them with a printer, but aluminum foil works very well also. Just paint a black pupil, and let dry before adding the epoxy. Quote
Karma Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Just being honest though, is making your own eyes really worth it? I have a guy from Michigan I buy mine from on ebay and get about 250 of them for $5. I almost would think that would be worth it when you consider the time .... I dunno. Anyone else thinking the same with me on that? Quote

Anyone else thinking the same with me on that? Making your own eyes is totally worth it, it's one of those things that separate "arts and craft time" from being an actual lure maker. No it's not cheaper (I don't think...never sat down to figure it out, after about $40 in tools and materials I've made hundreds of sets and haven't spent anything since), but the builder has total control at depth, color and shape. It does mean a lot to some of us, but detail is everything...for us really...not sure if the fish care wether I made em or a machine pumped em out. But I do. Quote
Comfortably Numb Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 Very nice. You picked a tough pattern for a first. I have used Devcon 2ton and Bob Smith. Both are great. I mix by weight. 10g resin to 9g hardener. Mix well and always dries perfect. This is best investment I have bought. http://www.ebay.com/itm/172205405348?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Quote
