Bryce_Fishin24 Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 Hello everyone, I usually like to stock up on fishing line because A) I tend to just suck at casting and backlash from time to time and for some reason no matter what I do they're knots at the way bottom?? Or I let my friends fish with me I'll let them borrow my pole and they do the same which I don't mind I love relaxing and talking with friends while fishing. Bottom line is I use it of fishing line, and I don't have money to just throw on braid and fluorocarbon, I just use mono, but I got introduced to Fluoro coated line? Thoughts on it because it just want to know if it's just like mono or it actually works pretty good and I've came along p-line and high seas Fluoro coated line, thoughts on those if you e used them and if you know other lines for the price of those which vary from store no more then 5-10 bucks let me know please. Cgrinder Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 If you're going to purchase a P-Line product, I would recommend the CXX. That Hi Seas fluorocarbon coated line actually doesn't suck but it's pretty much just like a nylon mono that doesn't really float. Quote
ItsTig Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 I've been using the Hi Seas Grand Slam Fluoro coated co-poly 8# for a few months and really like it. It is really strong and abrasion resistant compared to plain fluorocarbon. The breaking strength is definitely more than 8 lbs, i just picked up some 6# to try next. I am getting pretty low on the spool and feel like I am noticing more line memory/twist now. It has been on there for a few months though, and I don't use line conditioner. 1 Quote
Bryce_Fishin24 Posted May 30, 2015 Author Posted May 30, 2015 Thank you, I'm just really looking for descent line in my price range, I appreciate you all! Quote
Jon G Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 15lb P-Line CXX especially since I see you fish Silverwood lol. That use to be one of my favorite lakes when I lived in SoCal, infact my PB came from that lake. 1 Quote
Super User Darren. Posted May 31, 2015 Super User Posted May 31, 2015 I have no experience with Hi-Seas lines, but I do have a number of P-Line Floroclear spools. It is a great line in my experience. I do happen to use Yo-Zuri Hybrid more these days as I have a LOT more of it than Floroclear. But I've used (use) Floroclear from 6-15 pound test and it has worked great for me. Quote
BooyahMan Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 For what it's worth, I work in a fishing department and for the customers that are willing to move away from the local popular brands, a lot of them praise P-Line. Quote

moguy1973 Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 I use P-Line CX Premium almost exclusively except on my braid rods. It's a great strong line. 8lb on my spinning and 10 or 12 on my casting. Quote
Jon G Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 Really where did you used to fish? I usually camp off the quarry but no luck for a while. ): I had a boat so I usually targeted deep structure Silverwood is a pretty deep lake. However my PB came up near the dam. I was using a tube with a 3/16oz weight and caught a 10.9 I also had caught a 10.2 there on the same bait two years prior. The dam would be a could place to go due to the spillway and water intake from the california aquaduct is right along next to it and a lot of bait fish and trout tend to pile up there. There is also A LOT of big striped bass there to and I'm talking in the 20-30lb range. The lake's record striped bass is 55 pounds 8 ounces and largemouth is 17 pounds Quote

It gets me excited aha because sometimes o fish for those but since I have no boat it's pretty much illegal for me to fish the spill way with all the fencing ): Quote

There use to be parking just above the dam and I would see a lot of guys bank fishing off the dam. That whole area has a ton of rip rap with deep holes which holds a lot of LMB and striped bass. That's where I would fish if I were you. Quote

No I know what you're talking about, I walk down and fish three but I'm talking the about the other side where the spillway is and the water books fence, that's all fenced off because that little power plant plant below, so by shore fishin it's pretty hard to fish right there and no way I'm trying to get in trouble aha. WPCfishing Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 P-Line 15# CX on some of my reels. 20# on one. I also use the 15 and 20 as a leader. I prefer it over Flouro or mono line. Low stretch and very tough line. Quote
BigSkyBasser Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 My experiences with co-polymer have been inconsistent. I have tried and tested both Gamma and P-Line brand copolymer and Gamma impressed me more but I really didn't like either that much. Personally I prefer to just invest in flouro on both casters and spinning outfits. Or braid and mono depending on the outfit. Quote

Interesting, I had bad experiences with Seajunk Invisx and Red Flouro line and the company. They Suck. Quote
ThatZX14Fella Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 If you switch to braid you won't have to change line all the time, even if you do backlash a lot. Quote
BigSkyBasser Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 If you switch to braid you won't have to change line all the time, even if you do backlash a lot. If you switch to braid you will backlash a lot. I have had the hardest time of all throwing anything on braid with casters. Granted I'm new to baitcasters but my experiences so far have been consistent with what I've heard about it. I'm sticking to mono right now for top water rigs. Quote

BigSkyBasser Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 I was actually better at casting with braid. Maybe I'm just odd. I've also heard it depends on the reel. I've thrown braid on my Revo s and my Curado and could rarely do anything other than backlash the crap out of the spools. Have not had the issue since switching to flouro and mono. I'll have to try again eventually though as I need to be a versatile fisherman to make it anywhere in the tournament fields. Quote

Seemed to do well, but I didn't get to use it much. I got a new reel and my sister needed a new one so I sent it to her. She still hasn't used it. Really wish she'd give it back. Quote
CRANKENSTIEN Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 I have a 12 lb grand slam which I no longer use. It dose not cast well. I use pline 10 lb cxx and it is. Good casting line. If you have trouble with backlashes you want to stay away from stiffer lines Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted June 1, 2015 Super User Posted June 1, 2015 I have no experience with Hi Seas, but I will say that the Pline Fluoroclear is an excellent line. I've been using the 15lb test for squarebills and spinnerbaits and it has performed great. I would say I prefer the Fluoroclear over YoZuri Hybrid. Quote
