zeth Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 Just seeing if theres anyone else from the Bay Area here that might want to go fish some local stuff. Quote
freelancer27 Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Hey there,I am. Just started passing couple of months ago. But would be great to learn a bit from a 'pro'. What lakes are you hitting? Quote
zeth Posted August 2, 2015 Author Posted August 2, 2015 I think you need bigger quotes on the """"""""pro""""""""". Many people here fish much more than I do. Who are you? where are you from? update your profile. Lots of good stuff around the Bay Area for fishing. Quote
freelancer27 Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Hey,my name is Seb and I am a German native living close to SF for 5 years now. 29 years old. What rivers/ lakes do you fish around here? Quote
blckshirt98 Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Heya, I'm in the South Bay Area, usually fish the Santa Clara reservoirs like Anderson and Coyote, and will make a run up to Los Vaqueros for trout when the bass bite slows down, and fish the surf to mix things up. Went up to the Delta for the first time ever on Sunday at Holland's Tract...only got 3 small ones on Rat-L-Traps, and I can't believe how weedy that place is... Quote
zeth Posted August 5, 2015 Author Posted August 5, 2015 yup delta is very weedy. so when is it that the bass bite slows down? maybe ya need another approach? Let me know if you ever wanna go to some east bay reservoirs. Quote
BMG3_89 Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Zeth, i live in oakland and fish most of the bay area reservoirs. Im looking for good ponds in the bay. Any suggestions?? 2 Quote

ReelCali510 Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 Bay area native myself, lets get on some fish sometime Quote
Dreamchaser Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 hi guys, East bay here too. I've met up with Zeth a few times and he's an amazing teacher. I'm new to SF (a year) and bass fishing (since this summer - 4 months) so still learning lots. I'm mostly a bank fisherman but have been on boats 1-2 times and it's been fun. I've been mostly catching largemouths and my personal best so far is nearly 4lbs although I've caught various 2-3lbs though. I'm close to San Pablo and Lafayette Reservoirs. If anyone of you guys fancy meeting up, please send me a PM. I'll be up for meeting other folks and learning. Quote
FuglyMonkie Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 Hey guys. I am from the east bay. Just started bass fishing from the shore last week. Quote
Dreamchaser Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Hey FuglyMonkie - welcome! pretty impressive if you've only started fishing and have caught 5-6lbs! Where are you fishing? Quote
FuglyMonkie Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Hey Dreamchaser. Thanks. I should note that I have fished for bass a few times with an old acquaintance Thats how I got the 5 lber . I just started trying for bass / lure fishing on my own from shore recently. I am usually an ocean guy going for stripers, sturgeons, lings, rockcod. I have gone all over the bay from clear lake to coyote lake and far into tracy. Quote
Super User J._Bricker Posted January 11, 2016 Super User Posted January 11, 2016 Hello fellow Bay Area bass anglers! Hope everyone is looking forward to the spring of 2016, where any cast could be a 10lber! I primarily fish the delta, and the waters mentioned hold good bass. I'd add Lake Chabot and the back ponds of Shadow Cliffs.... Quote
Dreamchaser Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Welcome. Im not far from Delta but without a boat not worked out how I could fish it. Also, i hear it's tricky since have to learn the tides? Chabot is not far from me. Hoping to fish it more this year. Quote
Super User J._Bricker Posted January 20, 2016 Super User Posted January 20, 2016 Dreamchaser, don't worry too much about the learning the tides, tidal apps on your smartphone can help with general areas. I first started to fish for bass in the delta, I used a U shaped tube and the tidal flow to my advantage. Chabot has some big, trout fed fish.. Quote
Dreamchaser Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 hey, JBricker, thanks for your reply. I certainly will try to hit Lake Chabot more this year since everytime i catch something, it's decent size vs Lafayette. I have trolling motor so renting a boat works for me. That said, this year I would like to venture further or try something different. With kids I don't get to get out much but if i want to plan to do a special trip, where would you suggest? I've heard of Berryessa and Clear Lake etc but unless i pay for a guide i won't have boat. As for the Delta, I could consider looking into a personal tube of some sort, which spot a long the Delta is good/near me? I usually only have 4-5 hours to fish so as to not be away too long. On some days, i could try all day and fish 6-7 but rare i get to go out all day. Any suggestions welcomed! Is this what you mean by u shaped tube? Quote
Super User J._Bricker Posted January 23, 2016 Super User Posted January 23, 2016 Exactly, very easy to get in and out of compared to the "belly boat" style and a little more comfortable in my opinion. Haven't fished out of a pontoon style, but I know the guys who have 'em like 'em a lot. A couple of places I'd go fish out of my tube was Italian Slough or Victoria Canal, but any place you can drive to an be able to access the water is easy enough. I haven't been on the water for a few months but I'm definitely looking forward to the spring.... Quote
Norcalkid Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 A little late to the party, but Bay Area native here. I'm down to fish anytime! Quote
eunderwood Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 I'm new to the area, and have been itching to get out on the water. I've fished a few reservoirs in the area, but haven't had much luck. I hear the Delta is the place to go, but I don't have a boat or know anyone out here that does. Anyone got recommendations in the south bay area? Quote

Anyone got recommendations in the south bay area? I'm also in San Jose and fished almost all of the Santa Clara reservoirs. Never been on a boat, 100% shore guy. Anderson and Coyote are usually your best bets from the shore. Anderson you almost always catch something, but usually on the small side. Coyote is your best bet for a trophy fish but that lake can be really good or really horrible on any given day. Go join sanjosebass.com and introduce yourself on the forums! I'll hit you up there if you ever want to check a place out. 1 Quote
Federico Li Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 I live in Berkeley and am new to bass fishing! I tried lake Chabot and Temescal recently but haven't had too much luck. Been learning a lot online so I can get back out there and own them next time! Would love to learn more about bass fishing near sfbay since it seems like generally people aren't super positive about bass fishing in lakes/reservoirs around the area. 1 Quote
Dreamchaser Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Welcome...I'm across the hills and you're also very close to Lafayette as well. I fish Chabot and Lafayette by renting a boat and putting a trolling motor on it. Something to consider if you've not looked into it. These reservoirs are great places to learn and they hold big fish! I've personally caught 5lbs fish and buddies have caught 6-8lbs LM. 1 Quote
