Tyler B Posted June 4, 2015 Author Posted June 4, 2015 I just made a two part plaster mold an half go from belly to tail and the other half are flipped and got from tail to belly. I have tried belly to tail before and couldn't get the plastic all the way to the tail. Would the tail to belly work? Quote
Ben Eipert Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Tail to belly would not. On the belly to tail it sounds like it isn't vented enough or the plastic is not hot enough. Try running a small file or razor blade and making a groove across the tail and going straight down the bait. Quote

Ben Eipert Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 You might just not be able to get enough pressure on the plastic to push it through. I would coat the mold with a hard smooth finish like epoxy or fiberglass and make sure it is a REALLY thin coat. It shoul help slide the plastic along and give you the option to lubricate it with some kind of oil to help it get in there. Canola oil works fine. If none of that works just make an open pour mold. Those are fool-proof and are way quicker to make. That little hump at the top isn't worth the effort. The fish don't care about the fine details as much as we do. You can also alter molds more that way. I highly recommend adding a tiny little paddle or ball at the end of it. That little tail moves just a little bit more and drives them crazy Quote

I wanted to try a two piece so I would get a good bait most of the time with not much extra flash. And also not spending a lot of money Quote
