Super User FryDog62 Posted May 28, 2015 Super User Posted May 28, 2015 I've been considering the BPS PQ reel and have read the many positive reviews. However, its almost 9 ounces. For those of you that have one isn't that a bit heavy? Or does it fit in your hand so well that the weight doesn't matter as much.. ?? Quote
Super User Raul Posted May 28, 2015 Super User Posted May 28, 2015 Oh dear, today´s anglers have become such weight weenies .... For the sake of the argument, no I do not own a BPS PQ but I do own several 9+ oz reels ( Shimano Citica 200 D, ABU XLT Plus series, Daiwa PT33SH ) and even though my right shoulder isn´t exactly in tip top condition I can still cast an entire day with any of those and suffer any kind of fatigue or discomfort. 1 Quote
Super User Goose52 Posted May 28, 2015 Super User Posted May 28, 2015 The PQ palms about the same as many LP reels - especially it's OEM cousins from Abu and Lew's. 8.6 ounces heavy? Maybe by today's standards but fortunately I'm only 62 years old and not bothered by an 8.6 ounce reel. Perhaps when I'm in my 80s it might be an issue... 1 Quote
Super User FryDog62 Posted May 28, 2015 Author Super User Posted May 28, 2015 Yep I've become a weenie... 3 wrist surgeries and a couple of partially torn rotator cuffs have done it. I can still cast a whole day but I take a lot less Advil with lighter equipment.. Adapt, or quit - I prefer the former... Quote
Super User Goose52 Posted May 28, 2015 Super User Posted May 28, 2015 5.9 ounces - this is the close-out of the 1st gen model. Some issues with this reel when it was first released but most folks since then have given them favorable reviews: http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Johnny-Morris-CarbonLite-A-Baitcast-Reel/product/1110020501438/ There's lots of 6 to 7oz class reels nowadays - from most manufacturers - just depends on your price range... cottny27 Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 I would jump on that Carbonlite for that price its no different than the new white one. I have both. Quote
