r_c_h Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 I am very disappointed with the performance of my bow unit. I am currently using the transducer inside my motorguide t/m. I am looking to do something different. I was wanting to know what the best transducer that i can put on my trolling motor that will get the most out of my Lowrance HDS 7 Gen 3 unit. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted May 28, 2015 Super User Posted May 28, 2015 The Motor Guide internal transducer is a Lowrance. So you want to change from Lowrance to Lowrance that is the same but different style? Quote
r_c_h Posted May 28, 2015 Author Posted May 28, 2015 I just thought by going to an external transducer it would clear up my images and provide better overall performance. ??? Quote
Super User tomustang Posted May 28, 2015 Super User Posted May 28, 2015 Changing your settings should help that. Read the manual about senstivity, color pallettes, and colorline. Check your quick start guide that came with your unit Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted June 2, 2015 Super User Posted June 2, 2015 Depending on how old your t/m is an external one could help. I know when they first started building them in, they were rather weak transducers compared to regular ones that came with the locator. It's also possible that the transducer in the tm is no longer any good. Mine is on it's last leg, if I'm over too soft of bottom, or if there's any veggies between my tm head and the bottom I lose pretty much any reading at all. Quote
jcoholich Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 You might get better picture by putting on a dual frequency transducer or the new chirp ones... They are awesome Quote
Comfortably Numb Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 I just thought by going to an external transducer it would clear up my images and provide better overall performance. ??? I believe only the 2d sonar is through the built in TM transducer. Imaging is thru the structure scan LSS2 Quote
Sea Jack Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 I would recommend going with the external transducer. I switched from the internal to running a separate transducer this year. Noticed a difference the first trip. Quote
