I am thinking of spooling up a ultralight rod for fishing in one of the ultra-clear reservoirs I fish, so I want to go with 4 pound fluorocarbon.

I've never used fluorocarbon before... I've heard the line memory is awful. Any feedback on this? Is it not as bad on 4 lb. test? Is there something I can do to take a little of the memory away?

No its not as bad. Spool the reel correctly and use conditioner

Seaguar Tatsu and use KVD L&L Conditioner and if you don't want to spend that kind of money on Tatsu then I would use inviz-X...

If memory is such an issue, use braid with a fluoro leader. Try some 10# braid as a mainline and 4# or 6# as a leader.

I may give that a try, but I sort of wanted a fluorocarbon main line because I know I can cast a micro lure farther on 4 lb. fluoro than braid, even of similar diameter. That way I could also use it as a trout rod.

You shouldn't be getting memory bad enough to need to use anything with 4lb test.

Save your money and get Sunline Sniper FC. It's great line and quite a bit cheaper than Tatsu. If you have the cash for Tatsu, get that. I bought some KVD L&L and I wasn't impressed. How light of lures are you talking about? Another option is a line like P Line Floriclear. I just tried it for the first time yesterday (6#) and I really liked it.

I no longer have my g loomis ultra light but when I did I had 10 pound braid and tipped with 6 lb Invizx.  Low stretch and yet stealthy, worked well for me.

Tatsu treated with KVD Line & Lure Conditioner is a match made in heaven!
