Super User ChrisD46 Posted May 27, 2015 Super User Posted May 27, 2015 I have seen a reference to adding Pro-Cure gel scent to Elaztech soft plastics (Zman , Strike King) - just checking if anyone has tried Elaztech soft plastics with : BANG , Mega Strike , Kick'n Bass , etc. scents ? Conversely , are there any scents to stay away from ? ... I ask as I want to avoid placing a scent on a Elaztech soft plastic that would change the soft plastic structure or worse case - turn it into a melted pile of goo. Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences in adding scents to Elaztech soft plastics ! Quote

WPCfishing Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 I tried the Elaztech Critters I didn't like them. As soon as they get wet the don't hold well on the hook. I'm not into taking super glue fishing with me. Plus, why bother with a bait that's a pain in the neck, to many good baits out there that aren't a hassle. I wish you good luck with them though. Quote

Being able to catch more fish on a single bait than you can with a whole bag of a similar bait made of regular plastic is a good enough reason for me. Sometimes the best way isn't the easy way. Quote

You should be into taking super glue with you or something. It is a tiny bottle that only costs a couple dollars and can make a huge difference. Personally I am not into having to constantly slide my trailer back up all day long. I will find room for that little bottle somehow and take the 10 seconds to add a drop of glue. 1 Quote
Super User ChrisD46 Posted May 28, 2015 Author Super User Posted May 28, 2015 Just as an FYI - so far I have confirmed Megastrike , Strike King Coffee , Smelly Jelly and Pro-Cure all have been used with success on the Elaztech (ZMan , Strike King 3X) soft plastics . I am going to experiment with BANG and Kick'n Bass , Jack's Juice , Gulp , etc. and report back as I expect they should perform similar as above mentioned . Quote
Super User bigbill Posted May 28, 2015 Super User Posted May 28, 2015 Baitmate scents. YUM scents When your favorite scent isn't working try garlic. With pre-scented or salted plastics I use no scents on the first cast. If I get a strike and a miss one shot of scent is a 100% hookup on the next cast. Quote

Up til now I don't have a problem adjusting my baits. It gives me the opportunity to check my line. I'm not tournament fishing any more. Maybe if I were I'd use the super glue. As far as the Baits go I'm good with my decision. Quote

Ned used to use Gulp before he switched to Pro-Cure, so I'm sure it is safe to use. -T9 Quote
