Joedodge Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 So I got a lake I really like now. I did some pitching from my canoe and got some nice fish on a black blue 3/4 jig and a craw trailer. I'm wondering why hat would be more productive tho jigs or just pitching a beaver bait with a 1/2-1 ounce weight? What do yall prefer? Quote
Super User Catt Posted May 26, 2015 Super User Posted May 26, 2015 Why not both? Let the bass tell ya! 2 Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted May 26, 2015 Super User Posted May 26, 2015 I agree with letting the fish decide. Lighter is sometimes better with jigs and beavers. Pitching to shallow cover I almost always start light (1/8 or 3/16) with beavers in heavy stuff. Quote
Joedodge Posted May 27, 2015 Author Posted May 27, 2015 Thanks a lot guys! I'll have to rig a beaver bait and a jig rod up and work both. I actually have some rattling jigs I bought by mistake. I'll try starting light there no real Matt or weeds. It's just a cat tail. Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted May 27, 2015 Global Moderator Posted May 27, 2015 I really don't have a particular style bait for pitching into and around cat tails, reeds etc. And we do that a lot down here. Latley I've had the best luck useing a Brush Hog. Try whatever you brought. Mike Quote
Super User everythingthatswims Posted May 27, 2015 Super User Posted May 27, 2015 Put a beaver on your 3/4 oz jig and pitch that. Big ol hunk of stuff for a big girl to chomp down on. I like big jigs with a papa pit boss as a trailer Quote
Super User Raul Posted May 27, 2015 Super User Posted May 27, 2015 Beavers do something jigs don´t, unweighted they sink away from you so they are able to get under the cover and reach spots a jig can´t. So the answer is both. Quote
