Diggy Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Your phone should give you enough lighting from the screen or flashlight unless you have a Motorola star tac 3 Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted May 25, 2015 Super User Posted May 25, 2015 I missed 3rd guide from top (including tip-top guide). Cast 12# mono for about 15 minutes before I realized what I had done. Haven't used the rod since because the line wore a groove in the finish that fast. Sure surprised me. I could believe braid, but mono??? Quote
WPCfishing Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Your phone should give you enough lighting from the screen or flashlight unless you have a Motorola star tac Speaking of phones and goofs. I had my iphone in my pocket then 15 minutes later I put a small ratchet wrench in the same pocket and then got into my car. I was going fishing. Later when I pulled the phone out the glass was busted. Fortunately the phone is still working. Dah! Quote
Boogey Man Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 I've actually missed the line guide on the reel. Made a cast, noticed something was not right, reeled the line in and noticed the line was all bunched up on one side of the spool, lol. Stuff like that happens to the best of us, lol. 2 Quote

Jaderose Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 I've NEVER done anything stupid like this!! (said as sarcastically as possible). I've also NEVER tried to cast a spinning reel without opening the bail! 3 Quote
WPCfishing Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 How about when you thread the line thru the BC guide and lines under a wind.. Then when you cast the bait stops so fast the line breaks you lose a lure and you have a birds nest like no other! 1 Quote
Boogey Man Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Had a buddy of mine after using his pliers to unhook a bass throw his pliers in the water instead of the bass. Heard this big "plunk", then a few expletives, so I looked back to see him holding the bass and explaining to me what he did lol. 1 Quote
kingmotorboat Posted May 25, 2015 Author Posted May 25, 2015 Lol story of the day restrung the rod. Now we're in urgent care cause my dad has a trailer hook stuck in his finger and can't push it through cause of finger nail. Needless to say fishing trip over before it even began lol 1 Quote

Now we're in urgent care cause my dad has a trailer hook stuck in his finger and can't push it through cause of finger nail. Needless to say fishing trip over before it even began lol that sucks. We all talk about tackle, technique and fish catches here but we've all had those little (or big lol) oops moments. I've had a lot of trips where the screw ups were more memorable than the rest of the trip. Hope you and your dad get back out on the water soon. Quote
Jaderose Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Probably the dumbest thing I ever did was to tie on a new Bucktail jig that I HAD JUST RECEIVED in the mail. Custom made...my design, etc. Tied it on, cut off the tagline and threw it in the water. As it was entering the water, I noticed there was no line attached to it. Yep..........did NOT cut the tagline. Cut the main line. Waded out to try to find it (bank fishing on a very nice JANUARY day..water was very cold) but never found it. Didn't get a single cast out of it. All I could do was laugh and go home to warm up. DUMB ARSE!!! Quote

Super User SirSnookalot Posted May 25, 2015 Super User Posted May 25, 2015 I've done plenty of stupid things and will continue to do so, missing a guide or 2 isn't stupid just an oversight that's easily remedied. My largest barracuda to date is 55" caught on mh rod using 14# copoly off a 12' jetty, by no means a 60 second or less battle. After landing it I noticed I missed a guide somewhere in the middle, the rod along with the other guides didn't suffer a bit. Sad to say this was the rod I dropped and lost in the water last week, but had years of great service from it. Quote

Was it really necessary to post that your 55" Cuda fought longer than any LMB that ever lived? If I have interpreted your post as just another one of your snide remarks directed at the LMB, on a Bass Fishing Forum, then I sincerely apologize. 1 Quote
