Slade House Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 ok since i live in California and don't ever plan on moving back to VA (catching 7lb bass is a weekly occurence now, ) im gonna drop a secret spots i have from the DC Area. If there is more interest in things like this then i will make more maps. Lagovista.tiff 1. Super Pond- Great Falls, VA--- 71 bass in 90 minutes was record between 2 people, Best bait: 1/4oz charetrues and yellow rooster tail. Take Georgetown pike from 495, after you pass great falls park , go right on riverbend road, then take a left onto lagovista ct. park in the cul de sac and follow map on how to walk down to spots. only fish from spots circled in blue, avoid fishing from spots squigled in red. map should explain it. only guy who really cared is marked on the map. try and avoid weekends if possible. if people respond to this i will make maps of other super secret ponds and my best potomac river spots. 2 Quote
VolFan Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 Yeah...your problem there is that without permission you're trespassing. There are plenty of ponds in the Potomac flood plain in public areas around there that can spit out similar numbers of bass. 2 Quote
AndrewDC Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 I would like to know your other spots! Im checking out that pond tomorrow morning early around 6 or 7 AM. Hopefully no one will give me any trouble. Willing to drive pretty far too. Got all my licenses and a canoe. Thanks again. Quote
quanjig Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 Meh, 1/4 rooster tail!!!!!! Biggest fish there?? On that bait!! You can do that catch rate just about anywhere with a rooster tail!! 1 Quote
Brayberry Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 I can't even open the file, dang netbook I'd love to hear more spots too. Thanks! Quote
AndrewDC Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 Its a good map. Try selecting the name of the file, as if you were going to rename it, and change the .tiff or whatever it says to .pdf and then open it. Quote
Super User everythingthatswims Posted May 27, 2015 Super User Posted May 27, 2015 There is a member on another forum with a philosophy similar to "Don't share your spots, you might not be the only one who enjoys fishing them"... It's great that you are sharing for people, but if someone did that to one of my spots, I wouldn't be a happy camper. 2 Quote

I look at it like this, every spot you find on a body of water has been found before you or will be after you leave. Just cause a person knows your spots doesn't mean they're gonna bite for you or them. 2 Quote

AndrewDC Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 Went out for about an hour before work. Caught something at least every other cast (at least). Took out a rooster tail, nailed em. Had a big girl on a chatterbait with a yellow lizard on it, couldn't bring her in. Thanks for sharing, looking forward to hear about more spots. Also VolFan feel free to post some of those other ponds. Quote
Slade House Posted May 28, 2015 Author Posted May 28, 2015 i never had a problem with any of the neighbors down at this spot cause i always kept a low profile and i fished with no more than 1 other person at a time. Most of these people work all day long. As for the guy who said that "you can say the same about all the ponds in the area" well i fished every single pond in great falls and i will tell you, not even close. the only time i ever really had issues was when i took like 4 people on a saturday and the guy who lives in the house above the dock came down and gave us **** cause we were fishing near his property. If this was or is your spot, can't be , i never saw anyone else fishing there for 8 years. the attached photo shows where you should park. i would park right next to the guard rail and walk down to the left, check your map. The people's house you see in the photo were mad cool and i would always fish behind their house. now the 2 spots that are the best are circled in blue , these spots are also the best in terms of being stealth. the blue circle spot you see closest to where you would park is my choice, you can go undetected fishing there pretty much. betweeen the Cat Tails on your left and the big tree on your right. as for spot 2 if you look across the lake you will see some rocks right near the rocks is a big giant tree, fish underneath that tree straight out. also good for stealth. Logan S Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 Looking at that map, there doesn't appear to be any way to access that pond without cutting through someone's property. People that may have been 'cool' in the past might not feel the same way now, or could have moved out. The fact that 'steath' and 'undetected' are used when describing access should raise concern. There are countless places to fish from shore, canoe/kayak, and boat in the MD/DC/VA area that don't involve trespassing. I'm sure the residents there wouldn't be happy with someone on the other side of the country providing directions on how to sneak onto their property on a public forum. Maybe I'm wrong or maybe I'm just a buzzkill...But my advice to anyone reading this is think before you act and tread very lightly. Won't be surprised if this gets the lockdown. 1 Quote
VolFan Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 Look at Widewater and many places along the Billy Goat Trail. There are quite a few ponds that are public, accessible, and loaded with bass. I know you're just a kid, but you're literally telling people to trespass to fish that pond. Buyer beware. 1 Quote
AndrewDC Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 Hey so that house is right near where I parked last time (in front of the guard rail). When I line up my map with yours you wrote "no" on it. They saw me fishing under the big tree in there pool and didn't say anything. The guy you said came down and yelled at you is kind of further away from the pond. I can't see why he would say anything to you. Quote
Arlington-guy Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 I checked out this place yesterday - looked like a great spot EXCEPT that now they have added "No Tresspassing - we will prosecute" signs all along the edge of the property, including the areas where you are supposed to park. I decided I didn't want to get arrested on Labor Day so I went to River bend and rented a canoe to fish on the river instead. Any other spots that might be good, and not riddled with signs? thanks - Quote
quanjig Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 What part of northern va are you looking to fish?? Let me know where and I will pm you with a few! Quote
