Went in and bought a 400 yard spool of Gander Mt Fluorocarbon 15 lb test today. Spooked it up on my new (to me) Pflueger Supreme XT (Thanks Stu!). Seemed a little wirey, but that's coming from a guy who's used nothing but 12 lb Trilene XL the last 12 years. I made sure to be careful in spooling it and tying my knots. Hopefully I can get used to the stiffness. Its also right at the 'correct' diameter of .015 inches. I'll fish it this weekend and report back with my findings.

I almost bought a spool of the 6# til I checked the diameter. It was the same diameter as 10# Invizx. I bought the 6# Invizx instead.

Curious about that XT. I have had th president baitcaster for 12 or 13 yrs and it still performs well. I purchased a closed out trion baitcaster last year for $60 and it works about like the president. If you arent as happy with it it could be the line. I'm not familiar with it but a 15 lb floro most likely won't cast as good as 12 lb xl. [

Jakob, did you run the line through KVD's Lure and Line Conditioner when spooling?

You get a washcloth and spray a "wet spot" on the cloth and run the line through this wet spot when spooling.

Did you go out side and tie the line to a post and then back the line off the reel by walking away from the post, stopping and with the drag tight stretch it for about thirty seconds five or six times, holding the line in the stretch position for about 20 to 30 seconds each time?

Did you go back to the post and untie the line and then reel it tight back onto the spool?

One other thing to consider. Try to find someone at the tackle shop who is not a dummy and knows who makes the line for Gander Mountain.  I know BPS has Seaguar produce their line and it performs very well. Almost as good as Yo-Zuri.

You know that when your line test goes over 12-pounds it can get to be a little "wirey" as you say. But don't give up on it.  You should have good results as the other normal people in Indiana are watching the Indy 500 and you are out fishing. Let us know what happens. Good luck on your upcoming fishing adventure. Be safe.

I didn't even think about conditioner! I forgot to pick some up... O can't reealy seem to find it locally :( As for who makes it, its Sunline. The guy I talked to seemed like the only guy who WASN'T a dummy in the store. The only reason I go in there is to look at their branded stuff because its a pretty good deal most of the time, otherwise, I prefer local places where people are actually knowledgeable. It seems like a great product for the price, its just different than anything I've used before (I'm new to fluorocarbon). I will run it back out and give it a good respool and some conditioner if I can find some around here. If not I may have to order some online.

Thanks for the advice!

P.S. I will definitely be out fishing it all weekend since they don't even show us the 500 live! (Ugggghhh!)

Give it a few squirts of KVD L&L before going fishing, and you should be good. BTW, looks like your 15# line has the same diameter as 20# Tatsu.

It did look a little thick, but I gave it some practice cast in the yard and it seemed just fine. Came off evenly, it did not spring off the reel. I can't afford Tatsu, and really was looking to buy FC Sniper, but they didn't have any in store. I needed something I'm a pinch so I bought. I will definitely be sure to buy Sniper and try it, but on sale at 14.99 for 400 yards I can respool multiple times if needed, and I doubt I'll be too disappointed in ots performance.

Take my advice and tighten up your reel a little bit if you are new to FC. Tighten up means if you usually run 2 brakes, then run 3. If you usually have a loose cast control knob, tighten it up a bit. I find that with FC, casting a heavier weight helps me cast it effectively. I have no idea how people throw weightless worms with it but they do.

Threw a 10 inch Texas rigged black/blue worm with 3/8th ounce weight on it today. Casting was better than expected. Abrasion resistance was much better than 12# XL. In terms of sensitivity, I'm not sure yet. Didn't have any problem with knot strength after a few fish. I'm going to get some 1/4 oz tungsten to see if it helps my worm fall slower so I can increases my catches. I'll keep updared

Oh no, my point was you're actually fishing with 20# line. Almost all lines are under-rated for strength. If you're happy with it, that's all that counts.

Ohhhhhh!!! I understand. I'd rather it be a tad thinner, but no biggie. I still fully intend to try FC Sniper. Have heard good things about it.
