so i finally stepped up to a bass boat, 1990 nitro 175 tf. mercury 150 on the back with a motorguide TM.   Several issues first the boat runs great, the idle seems high and it wants to stall at idle, making it a pain to dock due to its speed and or stalling.....second the trolling motor arrow doesnt line up with the position of the trolling, meanig the pedal is flat but the arrow points right and the motor points backward.....any help would be appreciated!!!

You can take the top off the tmotor and align the arrow. There may be an L shaped bracket that has been bent a bit. You can fix it or buy a new one. Can't help with the Merc.

There are a few things you might want to check for, bad fuel, clog fuel filter and or worned spark plugs.

I would change out the fuel filter. I just changed mine out the motor and runs much better.

Awesome thanks for the info! Anybody know why when the boat is on plane why the wheel is almost trying to turn 60 lbs to the left but wants to rip the wheel to the right.

Did you test drive the boat before you bought it?

The trim tab can be turned to adjust this. There's a few good YouTube videos on how to do it.

The trolling motor - it happens. You can take the top off and glue the arrow in the right position.

The motor problems - Fuel filters, spark plugs, lines, carbs. A number of things. Those 90's motors idle at what sounds like a high RPM's anyway.

It's called cable steering.

Try trimming up a little more. Usually helps with the steering.

I'd definitely check the idle issue out. Could be a number of things. Maybe just a simple adjustment. Could be lean though. Not a great situation for a two stroke or any engine for that matter. Mine had a real high idle that was a combo of fuel pump and an incorrectly assembled carb. I did have symptoms other than just high idle though. Either way that's a lot of money bolted to the back. Worth the time to get it right.

Congrats on the new boat!

I adjusted the trim tab and it help out alot. Apparently it has a raker prop on it which leads to even more pull? Lol I will be upgrading to a no feed back system soon!
