Rod And Reel Choice

Narrowed down my decision. Whats a good rod and reel that I could put together that wont cost me more than 100$. I will use the set up for wacky rig and texas. Also fish some cranks on it. from 9ft to 14ft. Was thinking of a reel with a 6.1 to 6.4 gear ratio. Was thinking the Abu Garcia Black Max. Any suggestions on rods for this fishing? And also a would MF action rod affect cranking much? Thanks in advance.

A rod for ~$50 that will handle a weightless wacky rig and a 14 ft. deep diving crankbait.... I'm not trying to degrade your budget, but (ideally) you're going to need 2 different rods for those purposes. In order to use a crank that dives 14 ft, you're going to need a MH rod at least, with a moderate action.

If you have a small budget, you have a small budget. When I first started bass fishing I had 1 spinning rod and 1 casting rod and had to use those for everything. Might not be ideal, but you do what you have to. The Shimano Sellus, Shimano Covergence, Abu Garcia Vengeance or the Quantum Response are all right around the $50 mark. Personally I would go with a 7ft or longer medium action rod. I've thrown mid sized cranks on medium action rods for years and had no issues.

The Powell Diesel is $50 at Fish Ranger, call Cody...the 723  would probably do for an all around rod...It's MH but a 3 power, XF but has a nice parabolic bend that keeps fish buttoned up well. I have 3 of the 723's and use them for everything pretty much...moving baits with trebles and plastics....very good little rod no matter what you hear....I have 6 Diesels total and love em' all...never broken one either

The Daiwa T casting rods are on sale right now for 46 bucks on tackle warehouse... the 6'6 would probably be your best bet for throwing some wacky rigs and cranks!

I'm in agreement with fishballer06, I can see fishing shallow cranks with a fast action rod for fishing worms and other single hook baits but mid depth and deep cranks, that is definitely a separate rod. So if I were you I'd just find a rod and reel in your price range and go for it, there is no sense in trying to find a specific set up because the deep cranks are so far off of wacky and Texas rigs that it really doesn't matter what you get so focus on price, if a black max can be had in your budget grab it.

save your money buy a St Croix Rod(legend or avid) and a Shimano reel(spinning sustain,casting cronarch) you wont need to buy again till you destroy on your own they will replace or repair anything manf fault forever  and will be very pleased in the quality and performance I was told this 30 years ago and tell everyone that asks....
