Im going to be doing alot of dusk/night bass fishing because my work schedule has changed to 9am - 6pm. So Im looking on some tips for some good night time topwaters and tactics on how to fish them. Give me some good info  ;D I want to catch some nice bass on the few hours I get  :). The best Ive used so far is a 3/8oz Black Jitterbug retrieved steadly along the side of stickpiles/pads. Which topwater works best for you at night? This includes softbait topwaters such as Hornytoads etc.

Black jitterbug ( change the hooks ) black blue, and brown+ orange, greenpumpkin + orange jigs. Black or junebug lizards, and big worms 7" to 12" c- rig craws and grubs. Just to name a few.

Well I have caught more with a pop n image jr at night this year than anything else. I fish it slow a lot of strikes come right after it hits the water before i ever twitch it,  I tried jitterbugs , crankbaits ,etc. And always go back to the popper. And I tried various colors I know everyone says black but I catch mine on a light colored lure ...Why I dunno , but they seem to strike it more, and miss it less than black.

I have caught twice as many fish on a dark moonless night (new Moon) than on or near the full moon. And I like to fish from 12 am to about 4 or 5 am seems to be the best times

A black buzzbait does work very well, but also a black spinner bait is deadly. It's not top water but I think it works better for night time fishing . Try 1/2 ounce with a single black nickle blade.

Did someone mention buzz bait yet?  :)

Fish the same baits, same locations, and same techniques you would during the day. The only thing different I add to my repertoire at night is a Q-Beam!

Another vote for a black buzz bait - with a trailer hook.

Was out a couple of weeks ago when it was getting dark and was throwing a spook.  Walking it slow/twitching and caught two in about 30 minutes along a deep grass bed.

I guide at night on our lakes. If you want to catch big bass DON'T fish were most people fish during the day. You want to fish much deeper!!!! And DON'T use a light on the water or shine it on the shore,it will take your eyes too long to ajust and you will spook any fish with the light. Big fish get big for a reason, one they are in deep water for the most part of there life. I am not saying you can't catch big bass in shallow water, but you can't do it on a steady basis. But if you fish deep water at night, you can do it more often. If you want to PM me I can give you more info and what tricks work for me.
