Violinguy Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Disclaimer: I'm not asking for anyone's prime fishing spots. There just hasn't been any talk about north Georgia lately so.... So I've been hitting the small county park ponds recently with mixed success. My normal go-to spot (a Douglas county park pond) has changed a lot since last year. I haven't had so much as a bite where I caught tons of fish last year, but I've been catching them like mad in other spots around the lake that never had any fish before. Tomorrow I'm headed out to a couple new ponds I found on google maps so we'll see what's what out there. I'm venturing a bit west of Douglasville so any folks out that way will get a nice fishing report. Any other good fishing going on besides the monster lakes (Alatoona, Lanier)? Anyone catching anything at Sweetwater state park or Dog River lately. I haven't been to Dog River this year, but I've struck out a couple of times at George Sparks Reservoir (Sweetwater Park). Quote

I keep hearing how awesome the hootch is for fishing, but haven't experienced that myself. And not for lack of trying. I haven't found any local ponds with big fish yet, but if you want to know where I fish down here in Douglas county, send me a message. Like I said, tomorrow I'm headed out west a bit. Can't wait. GodfatherOfSeoul Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 I usually start hitting the hootch when its consistently in the 90s everday. Early to mid June to July through August is the time to go for the shoal bass and stripers. Ive had most luck on bright colored square bills and swim baits. A white fluke on a scrounger jig will work too. I'm really going to try to catch them on the DOA airhead this summer and I get a chance. Quote
GodfatherOfSeoul Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Sweetwater has always been a place I hear stories about catching near the bridge and siren the creek but I personally have never had success for bass there. My local ponds in South Atl are spawning and have hit the live target poppers early morning or late evening. Light texas rig baby brush hog fished very slow have been working. Lastly the senko-matic works of nothing else works in my ponds and the reservoirs. If its muddy, my shakey head has been good in black. Im not have much luck with crank baits though unless its a pickeral in both small ponds and larger reservoirs. Its usually my go to bait especially for searching but didnt matter the retrieve, its slow on my moving baits. Anyone else having issues with crank baits? Quote
chriwkbrd Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Allatoona- Kellogg Creek has been pretty good. I've been going once a week in my kayak. Catching them early on Flukes then when the sun gets up, switching to a shaky head. Water is in the low 80's now, I don't know how much longer they will be biting as well as they have been. Quote
