JT Bagwell Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Drove to Omaha yesterday for a wedding and shortly after entering the city (while still on the interstate), I look in my rear view mirror and see some guy in an old beat up truck closing in on me fast. He is getting so close that I tell my wife, Holy sh!t this guy is going to ram me. For some reason he flips me off so I give him one right back. He then goes onto the shoulder of the interstate and tries to pass me but it doesn't work. A few seconds later he tries again and gets where he is right next to my wife's door and proceeds to try to ram me into the cars in the other lane, all while laughing like a lunatic. After that he drops way back behind me and I take the exit to go to my hotel and he exits right behind me and as we get to the end of the ramp he speeds up and tries to ram the front of our car and then drives off into the sunset still laughing like a crazy person. Normally I am a big hot head and get all fired up, but this whole deal had me so confused that I never even got mad. I just kept thinking to myself, out of all the people on the interstate, why did he decide to jack with me? It was just so stinking crazy. Quote

I had a truck driver attempt to run me into construction barriers last Sunday on my way home from Sturgeon Bay. I had my signal on for at least 1/2 mile to merge. At one point in time I could see his bumper was maybe a foot from the trailer. I finally got in front of him at the very last second before I would have hit the barriers and I looked in the rear view mirror and he was screaming and waving his fist. At first I thought maybe he was just "in the zone" and didn't see me, but after I saw the fist waving I was pretty positive his actions were intentional. 1 Quote

Super User WIGuide Posted May 18, 2015 Super User Posted May 18, 2015 That's some crazy stuff! I've had issues with some crazy drivers up by be too. Nothing to that extent, but apparently there are a lot of people around here who take being passed as some sort of a personal insult. A few years ago I was working a different job and I'd run across this one guy who drove a black Pontiac Grad Prix GT who would never use cruise and would be all over the board with speed anywhere from 50 to 61 or so. Not being a morning person and usually running a little late for work I'd pass him and it was usually once I got about 1/4 mile ahead of him apparently he'd just floor it. He'd go flying past me somewhere in the neighborhood of 90 and he'd usually get around a mile up ahead before he'd let off. It didn't matter if it was the middle of winter and nasty roads or not he'd do the same thing. If you didn't pass him he'd gradually slow down and then speed back up again. In the last 6 months I've had issues with a few other road ragers where when you pass them regardless to how slow they're driving they'll either speed up when you try to pass or once you get around them they'll speed up and tale gate you, usually with their brights on if it's dark. I could see if I had been riding their bumper or something, but I always try to give them room until the first available passing zone. Maybe it's just a coincidence, but most of the people who have done that have been driving Chevy Impalas so I don't know if they just attract that type of buyer or what haha. 1 Quote

Super User Redlinerobert Posted May 18, 2015 Super User Posted May 18, 2015 Glad you're ok, but sounds like you were the unlucky recipient of some nut job's attention. Did you report him? 1 Quote

Super User Sam Posted May 19, 2015 Super User Posted May 19, 2015 That crazy guy knows the LSU Fighting Tigers baseball team is heading to Omaha and he is practicing his driving skills to blend in with those Cajuns. Glad you and the wife are OK. If that incident had occurred on I-95 in Virginia there would have been some gun fire, especially close to DC. 1 Quote

LOL Now that you mention it, it was kind of like that. We didn't call the cops. It happened so fast and so unexpectedly that it caught us off guard. I never got mad or even thought about calling the cops. I was just really confused about what the guy's issue was. Just glad I kept my cool and didn't end up getting murdered on the side of the interstate in Nebraska. lol Quote
