morton01 Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 I ordered one of Zmans new chatterbait well, the blade keeps coming off and after looking it over I found that the metal loop where the blade attaches is open freely and not attached to anything. Is this normal or do I need to send it back to TW? I haven't fished it yet but I have opened the package and the chatterbait is in my tackle bag already. Quote
Ozark_Basser Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 It's normal, but you might need to take some pliers and close up the gap. Quote
morton01 Posted May 16, 2015 Author Posted May 16, 2015 Ok sounds good. Is that gap just to change color blades if you wanted? Quote
Ozark_Basser Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 Z man has a patent on using a head without a split ring. Whoever put yours together didn't do too good of a job. Quote
Super User gardnerjigman Posted May 16, 2015 Super User Posted May 16, 2015 Same yourself the headache and pm bluebasser86. Couldn't ask for a better bladed jig Quote
shanksmare Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 Yesterday I was at the local BPS. I was checking the chatterbait section. I noticed 2 of the Original Zman CB's had had the blades fall off the hook loop while in the package. I then looked at the CB's that Zman makes for BPS. All of them that I looked at had the hook loop open a bit (enough for the blade to fall off it looked). It looked like you could find yourself retrieving just a blade at some point with these lures (I have had this happen with the Original one). So unless you want to be very angry at some point, I suggest closing the loop with pliers or filling the gap with epoxy. I wouldn't expect to have to modify an $8 lure to prevent it from falling apart. Quote
MDBowHunter Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 Just one of the reasons that I dont buy Zman stuff, I have more then a couple that did the same thing. Everyone keeps asking did you send it back, and the answer is no I didn't send it back. if they can't take the time to do it right the first time shame on them. Zman is more worried about sales then the actual customer that buys their junk. I'm sure they figure if 100,000 people buys chatterbaits and only a couple hundred return them because they're junk they still made a profit, and since they haven't really done anything to fix this issue just proves it. Next time try Siebert outdoors he's a sponsor here and has a first class bladed jig for close to half the price as Zmans junk... 1 Quote
