nepabassmaster Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 I'm looking to purchase a new boat within the next month. I was looking for input on the Talon if possible. On paper, it sounds like a perfect concept. I have a feeling I won't drift and I'll get more and accurate casts into areas holding fish. The gentleman I'm buying the boat off of suggested I only buy one Talon because my boat will only be 16 feet and I live on a small lake with no heavy boat traffic. Would you guys agree? He clearly could get another $1,000 out of me by insisting I need a second, so I respect him not trying to take advantage. Is the Talon worth the hype? A big part of me can't wait to find out! Quote
a1712 Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 I have dual Power Pole Micro's on my Pro 170 Tracker and really like them. If you only need one and it's on a 16' boat, 1 Micro will save you $500, 2 will save you a grand. I have one on the front and the other opposed on the back. Brian. Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted May 16, 2015 Super User Posted May 16, 2015 Worth the hype and then some! I only have 1 8ft on my 19' Champion. 2 of them is nice but you can get along fine with 1....and 1 is a HUGE advantage over none! I don't know how I would get along without one now. Do I want another? Yep! Do I need it? Nope. Will I get another one? I might, maybe next year. Quote
nepabassmaster Posted May 17, 2015 Author Posted May 17, 2015 Thanks for the scoop fellas! I'm looking forward to using it. I don't tournament fish and I live on a small lake so I'm guessing only needing one is probably best. I have a feeling my percentages will go up thanks to the Talon. The promotional vids Minn Kota has on their website and Youtube channel are impressive! Quote
Super User slonezp Posted May 17, 2015 Super User Posted May 17, 2015 I have a single 8ft Talon on a 20' boat and love it. I use it more when I'm not tournament fishing than when I am. I like having one as I can use it as a pivot point and use the trolling motor to either hold me or rotate me. If you are a bed fisherman, I'd say get a second one. If not, one should do you just fine. Quote
livemusic Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 They go 12' now, that is awesome. Although, expensive! Might come in handy. Quote
nepabassmaster Posted May 17, 2015 Author Posted May 17, 2015 Thanks for the scoop! I am getting the 12'. I figure, why not. I'm buying a brand new boat, what an extra $100 some dollars for two extra feet on the Talon! Quote
nepabassmaster Posted May 18, 2015 Author Posted May 18, 2015 One final question. Would you guys say your percentages went up with the Talon as far as catching goes? Quote
bassinOUT89 Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 One final question. Would you guys say your percentages went up with the Talon as far as catching goes?well if you think it's going to help* you become more accurate then I'd say so. Quote
