Hey guys, got a trip planned to Erie planned this weekend, wonderin if anyone is getting smallies in Presque Isle Bay yet? Heard some guys got into them on the main lake pretty well

Thompson Bay, just outside of Presque Isle Bay, is a huge sand flat. A group of us went this time last year and got on the smallies. We actually got tired of catching them and chased large mouth in the back waters.

I see that area on the map. What were you guys using, if you dont mind me asking?

Swimbaits and flukes mostly. Small white grubs were working for others.

Yes they are in the bay.  Been up the past two weekends on the main lake but checked the bay out last Friday and they were moving up on the flats then.  Guys were having 80+ fish days.  They should be locked on beds tight.  Pray for calm sunshine but I don't think we will get it this weekend. :-)

Thanks, sounds like good news.

Welp had a pretty good weekend. Saturday, fished the bay as well as the main lake off the stacks and cribs, caught 37 bass total, including two 5+ers, about a 50/50 split on largemouth and smallies, had good luck skipping senkos under some docks, as well as jerkbaits and green pumpkin tubes. Sunday it seemed to slow down a bit, got some smallies on the main lake and two drum, and missed a bunch as well, for some reason just couldn't find a good hookset.

Fished solo Sat and half the day Sunday and had 67 bass.  50/50 split on SMand LM.  I went to the Lilly pads for the LM frog bite.  I just love it.  Could have got more numbers staying with the brown ones on the flats but wanted a change and once I got the frog bite going I couldn't put it down.  :-)
