Buckhunter2323 Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Nice Wnspain... Thanks for the pictures and the updates. I take it you were fishing farm pond? Quote
lectricbassman Posted March 26, 2016 Author Posted March 26, 2016 Finally got to put the yak on the water today and got skunked. The wind was up and the water was murky. Temps were 57 to 61 degrees at the surface. Tried chatterbaits and swim jigs plus creature baits, craws, and lizards in the pockets that were protected from the crazy wind. Wanting to beat she skunk, i tied on a rooster tail. I fully expected to catch at least something but no such luck. Oh well, such is the life of a fisherman. Quote
wnspain Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Had a good day on the water last weekend. Caught a few in 6-10 FOW No farm pond this time, Elmer Thomas 2 Quote
lectricbassman Posted April 1, 2016 Author Posted April 1, 2016 Nice fish wnspain! What were they biting on? Im heading out to okemah this weekend, hoping to put together a good stringer for a kayak benefit tournament. Quote
wnspain Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 Threw Keitech swim baits, jigs, squarebills, and roboworms. All fish came via the roboworms, nose hooked, drop shot. Quote

poisonokie Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 I know, that wind has been crazy lately and the water's not warming as fast as I thought it would. Fished a pond in yukon for 3 hrs last weekend, got one nibble early on and finally caught a pounder on a flick shake worm right before I left. Quote
lectricbassman Posted April 7, 2016 Author Posted April 7, 2016 Fished okemah lake on saturday and sunday. Wind was high and the water was 59 to 60 degrees and murky. Caught 2 that were around 4 pounds and 1 dink in 2 days fishing. It was tough because of the wind, hopefully this wind will give us break soon. Quote
poisonokie Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 I saw where people were slayin em at Prague back in march. Need to go check it out. Quote
Buckhunter2323 Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Went out and fished Lake Eucha last Friday... Tough fishing water was still only 56 degrees real windy... Only caught 1 off a zoom plastic worm in about 10ft of water... Hoping the water gets to about 62-65 degrees so they start spawning. Might try to get back out this week not sure where yet. But I will let everyone know if I do get out. Good Luck Quote

Im in the oklahoma city area and primarily fish small ponds in the area from shore. Because of the recent round of storms the bite has been slow. I am finding a lot of success with small poppers even though the water is high and muddy. Im looking forward to some more stable weather patterns but it looks like it may be awhile. which ponds do you haunt? I usually just go to the Yukon park because it's fairly close and there are some decent fish, and I know a few others in office parks and such. Quote
lectricbassman Posted April 10, 2016 Author Posted April 10, 2016 Sportsman lake, seminole ok. Water was 59 to 64 and very dirty. Soft plastics were the only thing that seemed to work. Caught 4 fish over 2 days, lost 3. I didnt see any beds and all the fish i caught werent spawning yet so theyre probably somewhere in the middle of pre/spawning. 1 Quote
Blackjack8234 Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 I fish the kingfisher area. I got the fever pretty bad last year but didn't have much luck. I've had a little better luck this year but I'm still learning to use plastic baits. Everything I've caught this year has been on a j-5 rapala crank floating. They have all been small. I'm hoping once I figure out how to use worms/lizards/frogs the fish will get bigger Quote
j bab Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 The topwater bite was absolutely on fire yesterday at the pond in Bethany that I fish... I've never seen such an active topwater bite, it was a blast. Nothing big (all less than 2lbs), but it was fun! 1 Quote
flyingmonkie Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 Looking to head down to Kanawa later this week... hoping that all the rain hasn't messed things up too bad. Anybody been down there lately? Quote
wnspain Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Do you mean Konawa?? Haven't been there but that fishery is on the list, along with Arbuckle and a few others. Quote

Yes, sorry... typo. It's about my favorite place to fish. Today was the first time I've ever been skunked at Konawa (and I've fished there in January!). 7 hours, and 0 hooksets. Ran into a local that caught a few, but said they all still had eggs. Said they had a great day last week. Water temps where I fished were in mid to upper 70s. Best I can guess, we were fishing in immediate post-spawn areas and fish were out recuperating. Locals must have found some cooler water where the spawn was still on. Quote
lectricbassman Posted April 22, 2016 Author Posted April 22, 2016 Ive beem wanting to get down to konawa. Never fished it but ive heard good things about it! Quote

I live in Newcastle so it's only about 20 minutes from me. Never really heard much about the lake. Welcome to the forum, btw! Quote

Purcell used to hold big largemouth but Im not sure what its doing lately. I did hear someone was tearing up the crappie there recently near the dam. I'm trying to get my 2man boat tagged this week so I can go check it out. 1 Quote

There are good size bass in Purcell, but sometimes they can be a little tricky to figure out. I have caught up to 6#ers out of Purcell. I have noticed I don't catch that many dinks. I don't catch them often, but when you do they are good size fish. 2 Quote
