Langford Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 I need help learning how to record on my Lowrance Elite 7. I insert SD card into machine, click menu, click "Log Sonar" and then I can't seem to set up perimeters and press record. However, last year I did and it was easy. This year I seem to be ending up after pressing Log Sonar in a box with (File Name Place, Time Remaining and Log Button or Cancel Button. Can someone help please. Quote
nixdorf Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 Do you have a "Start Logging" button? Check out page 22 of your instruction manual. Quote
TomLowrance1 Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 This should handle it all.... Recording on the LOWRANCE Elite 71. To start collecting data you must obtain a SD mini card (2GB or larger)2. Insert it into the card reader slot on your unit.3. Power on the unit, follow prompt - press enter. 4. Press pages –highlight over to sonar only –press enter5. Press menu key - log sonar, press enter6. From there a new screen appears allowing you to tell the unit where to store the recording (the inserted SD card).7. Give the file a name or use what is provided.8. Then highlight Start Logging. At this point you are recording and can begin making your first map.9. While recording, you will see a blinking red dot in the upper left corner of the sonar screen10. Make sure you have the ‘trails’ function turned on so you can see the areas in which you have covered and areas still remaining in order to complete your map.12. The trails function is invaluable if you are mapping over the course of multiple days. Depending on the area you want to map13. The speed you are traveling (sonar will not record at speeds of over 20mph), your data collection trip can be as short as a few hours or as long as a few weeks. 14. To stop recording - press menu. Log Sonar – highlight stop logging – press enter. Once your sonar log is recorded, the files can be saved to your Windows computer or uploaded directly from the m/SD card. Files are uploaded using the Insight Genesis Upload Tool that is downloaded from Insight Genesis tab in your Insight Genesis account. https://insightstore.navico.com/sign_up 1. Once installed, the Upload Tool will show an icon on your Windows computer desktop. Double-click this icon to launch the tool. 2. After launching the Upload Tool, click on the “Select Files” button to select the collected log files (*.slg or *. Sl2 files) that you have on your m/SD card or have saved to your Windows computer. 3. Time required to upload and process the files will depend on a number of factors including the size of the file (distance traveled, data points collected), size of the area surveyed, and internet connection speed. 4. An email will be sent to you once processing is complete, generally within 30 minutes after the upload has completed. Maps are ready - You will receive an e-mail, a notification will appear at the top of your Insight Genesis account and your map will be viewable under your Insight Genesis tab. 1. Once inside the Insight Genesis Dashboard you will see a list of all the trips that have been uploaded to your account, with the most recent at the top. Click on the latest to review the results. Want to take a copy of your new Insight Genesis map with you on the boat? 1. Follow the prompts to Save File after you have put an empty m/SD card in your computer’s card reader. 2. Save the file to the m/SD card. Make sure there is only a single mpa (AT5) file on the m/SD card, since multiple AT5s on an m/SD card can cause Read Errors on some Lowrance units. Want to create a Map for use on your chartplotter (*.AT5), follow the prompts to choose from the available choices. 1.Target Device: Which Device you are going to associate your map 2. Include Layer: None (Contours Only), Vegetation or Composition (Bottom Hardness) 3. Clean Contours: Low (cleans artifacts - higher levels may clean good contours) Quote
