Preytorien Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 Great video. I especially use the bow and arrow method in the river wading when my jigs or soft plastics get hung in rocks. Thanks for the great video! Quote
Super User the reel ess Posted May 12, 2015 Super User Posted May 12, 2015 Great video. I especially use the bow and arrow method in the river wading when my jigs or soft plastics get hung in rocks. Thanks for the great video! I have never gotten that method to work. I apparently don't have the feel for it. Does it work better with a particular line? Fist time I saw it done was by Rick Clunn with a shallow squarebill crank. He did repeatedly. As for the rod tip method, I can't tell you how many times I've heard a pro tell you not to destroy your expensive rod that way. I still do it. The method I use most is to go to the other side of the snag and pull the opposite direction. You have to really be dug in for that not to work. Quote

Yea, it's often hit or miss, which is why they suggest doing it over and over a few times, it just seems to gradually wiggle it unstuck. Of course there are times when it doesn't work. I don't do anything that will put my rod tip in some kind of un-natural use or motion. I've had 3 rods in 2 years broken at the tip, so I'm tip-concious. I couldn't see myself pushing at the lure with my rod tip of my new Zodias. 1 Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted May 12, 2015 Author BassResource.com Administrator Posted May 12, 2015 The bow and arrow works for any line. The rod tip method is no problem at all. Just don't hit the lure with your tip. Instead, reel it up snug with the lure and just push it out like I show in the video. Never damaged a rod by doing it that way. 1 Quote
