Low_Budget_Hooker Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 OK so many of you have been watching my trials and tribulations as I dive head first into swimbaits. There were trials.... and tribulations...... I mean,...Tribulations...... Each time I go experiment with a batch of new baits, some work, some don't, I come back and post a few questions and y'all answer up. Last week, Big M gave me the final piece of the puzzle (Thank You!). The line tie placement. The 4 baits I had out the day before, 2 worked, 2 didn't, 1 of the working ones was only "so-so". I took them out again, moved the line tie and Game friggin' on!!! I brought the same 4 baits and within 1.5 hrs, I had a fish better than 3 lbs on each one!!!! Thanks again to everyone who has helped me figure out what the heck I'm doing. You guys rock!! Quote

That should get him a few good emailshaha I'm pretty sure he has only been showing little clips of the baits here and there, wait till the fall video is out, we have lots of footage, some good stuff coming. We hope. Russ's computer, with most of the footage, is in the shop. Our fingers are crossed that it comes back with all the files still there. If it does, you all are in for a treat Quote
mayassa Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Good job! Now all you need to do is add the eye lashes What did the lure end up weighting? What rod reel combo did you use? Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted September 11, 2008 Author Posted September 11, 2008 Good job!Now all you need to do is add the eye lashes SHHHHHH!!!! What did the lure end up weighting? I have them from 3oz to 6.5oz (roughly) What rod reel combo did you use? I call it "The Big stick" 7'11' Shimano Crucial-heavy, a gift from RedlineRobert, teamed up with a Revo STX, a gift from Glenn. If I have safety glasses on,.....stand outside the property lines for your own protection please. Your families will appreciate the effort : ;D Quote
slomoe Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Things look to be coming along, keep up the good work. Can't wait to see some of the new stuff. Quote
-ebby- Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 looks really good! but do you have any vids of just the action? Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted September 11, 2008 Super User Posted September 11, 2008 i have one question, you said you moved the line tie and they worked great, well where was the line tie before, and where is it now? Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted September 12, 2008 Author Posted September 12, 2008 looks really good! but do you have any vids of just the action? I'm keeping them all uniform for now as this is one big testing stage. All baits are black with white eye and black eyeball. This way, I know they are hitting the bait, not the finish. When I have some done in finishes, I'll SURELY maske lots of videos. I have 4 different style wake baits so far, for different surface conditions. Slow/chop fast/chop calm/slow calm/fast i have one question, you said you moved the line tie and they worked great, well where was the line tie before, and where is it now? lowered it on the face They were dead center Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted September 13, 2008 Super User Posted September 13, 2008 Very nice pal. Cant wait to see one in person! Quote
Super User .RM. Posted September 13, 2008 Super User Posted September 13, 2008 L-B-H, Great job, I love watching your vids. Nothing better than a new piece of work that actually works and caught in pics or vids. I have been working on some swim bait rods using the spiral wraps and the guys are going nuts with them. They keep saying that the rods are 90% more stable then the conventional styles that they had been using... Again great job & tight lines!! Quote
Certified Public Angler Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 Man that looks like fun. Do you troll the baits or cast them? I can't imagine casting a 3 oz bait. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted September 14, 2008 Author Posted September 14, 2008 Cast them but it's not as bad as you think. Being wake baits, the retrieve is effortless so you really don't get tired like you would casting a retrieving a constantly moving sinking bait. A proper rod makes all the difference in the world too. Quote
JacobK Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 congrats LBH! i subscribed to your youtube channel ;D so when can i get my hands on one of these things Quote

Top Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 HEY GUYS let me get in line too I want one too! hahahaha sweet work there Russ... AL Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted September 26, 2008 Author Posted September 26, 2008 Keep in mind, these are basic, I kept them all black for the "control" side of things. I'm looking for body styles with different actions so to keep things even, they are all the same (color). However, I was at my partners house yesterday and saw some of the finishes his factory is planning for them,.......I'm VERY pleased, can't wait to show you guys. There will be Bass, Rainbow and yellow Perch It's starting to get exciting Quote
George Welcome Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Dude! You rock...lures, fish and video, but I do have one suggestion for you... Play a little Country Music and improve the "package" about 50%!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D I do believe that it would be more like 75%. Quote
George Welcome Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 "I took them out again, moved the line tie and Game friggin' on!!! I brought the same 4 baits and within 1.5 hrs, I had a fish better than 3 lbs on each one!!!!" Was it the method of line attachment or the day? Playing with an animal that lives by no rules, it is very difficult to assess the difference. Quote
