I have the following baitcasting setups:

Black Max with 6'9" MH Vengeance (my starter setup)

Revo S with 7'0" Winch Veritas 2.0 (what I throw most of the time, which is crankbaits)

Revo SX with 7'3" MH Veracity (I placed top bid at a charity event)

And also a Spinning Cardinal STX on a 7' M Vengeance

I bass fish for large and smallmouth.

The problem I have is that the Veracity and Vengeance rods are so stiff they are really hard for me to cast consistently without backlashing.  I'm still new to baitcasters;  I got my first one about six months ago.

My first question is how does the stiffness of the Veracity compare to it's rating?

My second question is what abu garcia rod should I buy to replace the Veracity and fill out my selection of rods?  Should I get a M fast 7' Veracity or Veritas 2.0?  It would be decent all round and for topwater wouldn't it?  I'm tempted to spend the extra for the Veracity just due to it matching so nicely with the Revo SX.  If not for that, I would just get the Veritas 2.0.

I plan to use my current Veracity as a worming, jig, frog rod with the black max until I upgrade the reel.  I don't really do much of these types of fishing anyway.

Thanks for any help.

I would try a phenix rod. The 7'2 mh is not to stiff and would work a lot better also shimano bait casters have better breaking systems than Abu

I am not familiar with the rods you have so no recommendation.  If you are having much trouble with backlashes it could be something besides the rod.  Some lines cast much better than others.  Trilene XL in a 10 - 14 lb is a good line to learn baitcasting with.

Honestly, you shouldn't really need to buy any new gear. What you do need to do is practice your thumb. A 7' MH rod is perfect for jigs. All these people who are saying that shimano is better than abu obviously rely way more on the braking system rather than there own thumb. Just practice casting a bit more and ill bet that you'll find that the Veracity is a actually a really good rod.
