goober0311 Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Is there any product or easier way to protect the weed guard of an unpainted jig when i heat it up to paint it. I use aluminum foil that I wrap around the weed guard. It is a little time consuming. Quote
LooksLikeSinbad Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 I read that some guys use a titanium tube over it. But you are much better off painting them first, baking them, then adding the weedguard. Good luck! Quote
goober0311 Posted January 10, 2009 Author Posted January 10, 2009 Do you have any idea where I would find this titanium tube at. Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted January 10, 2009 Super User Posted January 10, 2009 I have tried lots of ways to protect the WG and found none of them to be good. I have devised several plugs to put into the molds and cast them w/o the WG. I paint them, redrill [when necessary] the holes, put on all skirting material, then glue in the WG. Quote
JaROD Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Go to Do-It and look at the 2009 products, they have a tube now for this pupose. I cant post the link for you im sorry. Also you can look at Home Depot, sometimes they have brass tubes that work ok,,,,, but i always seem to burn the weedgaurd somehow. Drilling with drill press at the perfect angle, then glueing them in with Devcon 2T is the best way in my opinion. There is no pulling them out then. I sometimes glue them in after the skirt but only if im hand tying. Quote
