Like the title says . What are shallow diving , preferably rattleless cranks that do not move a lot of water . New or old . I see lots of old lures at flea markets .

If you want a tight action you should be thinking flat sided baits and not fat bodied baits. For no rattles, I'd be looking at wooden flat siders regardless of the lip shape. Jmho, Tennessee Tuffy makes some nice ones that have good action and sell for a reasonable price for a custom bait.

I like the Cabela's Flat Side Pork Chop. The Bombay & Lime color is sexy shad. Good cranks and stock hooks in my opinion.

The Live Target square bills are actually flat And catch me tons of fish. There is a flat crank with a coffin bill but it only dives like 5' or somewhere around there "I think" Rapala makes it and they also catch me tons of fish. It's defietly a DT Flat and they dive 3' or 7'

I didnt get to see these suggestions before I made it to  Bass Pro today, about 100 miles away. Ended up buying a Rebel Bluegill. Norman had a good looking bait but it had a lot of rattles .

Lucky Craft makes flat sided with no rattles. SKT MR model.

I think the SK KVD squarebill series has a fairly tight wiggle, narrower than a Square A or Excalibur. The Norman Mad N and Thin N have very tight wobbles though.

Rapala DT-Flat 3, that is the first square bill I throw every season as it works in cold water and it is a great bait when the fish aren't moving much, for some reason when they aren't chasing they will eat this. This isn't a typical square bill but the rounded square bill lets it deflect and it has a tight action but it is jointed so it resembles a swim bait, the Bill Norman Flat Broke, those 2 don't has the wide wobble with a lot of thump like regular square bills but they work in the same places and you will actually get fish on them when other square bills don't work.

If you have a square bill you really like but it has rattles, drill a hole where the rattle chamber is and put some super glue in the chamber. Close the hole with epoxy. It shouldn't rattle.

I have quite a few fat Raps. They are one of my favorites but dont have any of the shallow diving small lipped ones .

I also picked up some Poe's flat baits from a resell store  . Ive never used them before  and got a new in box rattleless Speed Trap to try.

No, but I don't see why it won't work. Be sure you position the lure so the rattles are either front, back, top, or bottom because you obviously won't be able to change them once the glue dries.

I also know that Strike King makes Silent Red Eye Shads

Most of the square bills today that have rattles were designed with the rattle chamber running the length of the bait in order to aid in casting. The rattles also aid in providing ballast and by removing the rattles or balls, or gluing them in place with hinder the action of the bait to the point it won't run correctly. What will happen is the bait will either roll uncontrollably or it will run on the side where most of the weight went after the rattle were glued in place because you'd be extremely lucky to have the weight perfectly centered by just dumping glue into a hole.

Bomber Flat A-, Spro little John is flat, Daiwa has a flat sided shallow square bill, The Sebile Ratsler is flat but has a rattle, I would have to go through my box, I consider the shad rap to be flat same as the speed trap...but The Bomber Flat A is really not a square bill but is the flattest I can think of...The Sebile Flatt shad is either a one knocker or silent lipless bait depending on if it is a suspender or Sinking model and nothing I have seen is as thin as that lure, one of my favorites for any depth, cover etc...

The Evolve bait I purchased the Soul is a flat sided square bill that looks great but I have not fished it yet, hooks look small.

You can find videos on you  tube how to drill out the rattles on a lure and I have seen it done with the Mann's wakes, and some other Minnow style baits, I give mine to a friend since mine always leek water when I try to turn them into one knockers or add weight etc....Practice on cheap Chinese baits from Ebay first...I forgot the Rapala DT-Flat, I think flash when I think flat sides as well as tight action, the glass shad rap is good for casting on heavier line since the shad rap is hard to cast...I have been throwing the Crème Mad Dad Minnow lately which has a weedless hook and for some reason is much better than all the other soft swimbaits with hooks in my opinion especially for the money..Something about that big eye, I like to buy the saltwater version or the 4.5" but the 3.5 is good, 2.5 is good as well but tough to cast, for $2, it feels like you are reeling in a rattle trap with the amount of vibration it puts off, I have never liked the Storm swimbaits or BPS soft swimbaits but the Crème Mad Dad Minnow is cheap and catches fish in places most traps or cranks can't go and they have cool colors..I would buy a few and try them, I just started using them and really like the bait a lot.
