scfox11 Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 I went out to my favorite pond thursday from 4-8. I managed to catch around 30 bass and missed around 8 of them. Caught a couple on paddle tail swimbaits, jerk baits, spinnerbaits, but most were from a Senko texas rigged and weightless. There were times where I would change out a senko and throw it in the water and go to adjust my reel and a fish would have it in its mouth already. It was insane. I could throw to a pile of timber and call a bite. I had a lot break off in the timber before I switched to heavier braid. Biggest was 4 lbs with several 2 and 3 lber's in there as well. I will post pictures later. *Note- i normally don't keep fish but the pond owner wanted me to keep fish that were around 1 lb or less, so I kept 8 of them. Quote
Super User Darren. Posted May 8, 2015 Super User Posted May 8, 2015 Wow, nice catch. I just can't bring myself to keep any fish, LOL. I'm a softie for the scaled creatures. But if I had to, I would. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted May 8, 2015 Super User Posted May 8, 2015 That is a busy 4 hours, Congrats! Quote

Yea I am the exact same way. They told me to throw them on the bank if I didn't want to keep them. No way I could do that. I understand why they want smaller fish gone everynow and then but there isn't enough people to fish it to do the dirty work other than me. Quote
Super User geo g Posted May 9, 2015 Super User Posted May 9, 2015 Those are the days that keep us coming back for more, even after weeks of slow fishing. Those are magical days for sure. Congrats buddy! Quote
Mccallister25 Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Those are the days we all love. I'll come do the dirty work of helping you pull out some fish!! Quote
MaineBassMan Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Congrats!! sounds like a good time. I don't like killing bass too, but you want to keep the owner happy so you can always go back Quote
Super User Senko lover Posted May 9, 2015 Super User Posted May 9, 2015 Nice job! Don't feel bad about keeping fish. One of the ponds I could fish could really use that and I may have to do it at some point. It's a private pond, I'm about the only one who fishes it (with occasional visitors), and the owners don't care about it because they're busy keeping up with funerals (it's a cemetery pond). The only thing they use it for is looks. Because of that, it has a ton of small bass and about 4-5 big (4+) fish. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted May 9, 2015 Global Moderator Posted May 9, 2015 Looks like a good day. I don't like eating fish, but a pond like that certainly needs some fish removed from it once in awhile. I usually just look for the 12-15 inch range fish and keep all those unless I get one that looks particularly healthy, those are spared in hopes they're a future monster in the early stages. I know lots of people that like to eat fish, so giving them away is never an issue. Quote
