When you are on top, people will ALWAYS look for a reason to bring you down. Does any one care if Jacksonville did this last year? Of course not, they suck so no one would care. Just like when pitchers were scuffing the ball. No one knows if the sorry pitchers were doing it, just the good ones.

So a team that is notorious for cheating was unfairly treated because people were looking for reasons to see if they were cheating when in reality they were cheating? lol, ok.

Was JAX doing this or others? Who knows..Call Tom Wells if you think the Patriots were singled out.

As said before, they were questioned about doing this earlier in the season and nothing was done about. They were then stupid enough to do it again vs the same team.

People have been bending the rules for as long as the game has been around. Doesn't make it right, its just a fact. But the fact remains that it is only a big deal because it was a winner doing it. Wonder how many guys used PEDs and still sucked. We will never know, however we know the ones who did that were successful. My whole point was that it wouldn't even be news if it was Jax.

POST OF THE DAY ~ YOU WIN THE INTERNET TODAY !

FLYFISHER - THIS LINK IS FOR YOU - (I only wish I had posted it.)

Ex-Eagles and retired Pro Bowl quarterback Jeff Blake confessed in an interview that removing air from footballs was common when he played in the NFL from 1992-2005.

"I'm just going to let the cat of the bag, every team does it, every game, it has been since I played," the ex-Eagles QB said Wednesday in a radio interview on the "Midday 180" show on Nashville's 104.5 The Zone. "Cause when you take the balls out of the bag, they are rock hard. And you can't feel the ball as well. It's too hard.

"Everybody puts the pin in and takes just enough air out of the ball that you can feel it a little better. But it's not the point to where it's flat. So I don't know what the big deal is. It's not something that's not been done for 20 years."

Blake says that he'd order ball boys to let air out of his footballs just before the start of games during his entire NFL career, which included time with the Eagles in 2004.

They cheated (again), he's lying, and Belichick knew everything. More serious item...the NFL is a non-profit organization, and pays nothing in federal taxes! Time to end the charade.

The attitude that everyone is doing it, or that it's only important if done at the highest level is part of the problem. It brings into question the integrity of everyone, including NFL management. The Pats are the preeminent team in the league, and their continued disregard for the rules is a blemish on the game. Should they be held to the highest standard? Only if the NFL gives a rip about the integrity of the game.

Guy played for the bengals for over 5 season, only the eagles for 3 games, so they consider him a ex-eagle :Idontknow:

First Off - as a Pats fan - this is much easier to deal with having won another title -

Secondly  – Most of what is written below came from Anno Catuli’s article about MLB.

But after by replacing “MLB’ with “NFL” in the text, I believe this to have value.

If the NFL really cared about the “integrity of the game”, they would kick everyone who ever cheated, took drugs, murdered people, used substances that are now banned (regardless of if they were legal at the time) or not out of the HOF. If the NFL really cared about the “integrity of the game” as many claim, they would actually take a very strict policy on the steroid issue. I do not care where you stand on whether or not steroids help, or should be banned, if the NFL really wanted to “clean up the game” they would start by issuing a one and done PED drug testing policy. You get caught once, you are done.

The time has come to stop throwing around the empty phrase “integrity of the game” because there is no “integrity of the game”.  All teams, players, owners care about is money; cold hard cash is what makes these decisions.  Not integrity.

This is not really about The New England Patriots, The Owner, Coach or the QB  at all, but that empty phrase “integrity of the game”.  The Patriots are just a convenient launching pad for people to use & pound the “integrity of the game” line. The NFL has lacked integrity since d**n near the beginning, and the NFL Hall of Fame is loaded with people who lack credibility.

In my humble opinion,  the NFL has two options. Put up, or shut up. Either stop talking about how much you supposedly care about the “integrity of the game” or actually do something that proves that you care.

A-Jay I agree with the central idea of the above article. The NFL can't talk about integrity while not doing anything about it. If the "integrity of the game" is a meaningless phrase in professional sports, where winning and money are all that matters, it is a sad indictment of all involved. That includes those of us who blindly root for our teams with little regard for the bigger picture.

Yea, I mean the NFL is all about the money, unfortunately so are most things... The NFL wants to fly under the radar till they get shot at, then they want to pull the stick and fly high..

Wait, are we talking about football or the Congress & Senate? Lol..

As everyone knows I am a pretty diehard Eagles fan and i didn't even remember Blake was on that team lol

i will wait to reserve judgement on the NFL until sanctions are announced

As a fan I want to blindly root for my team with little regard for anything else but the game.

I learned right from wrong, good from bad, integrity, respect commitment & devotion from people I know during Real Life.

None of that can be expected from people Playing A Game.

I would suspend Brady for one season, terminate any contracts he has with the Patriots, and not allow him to come back to the Patriots if he chooses to return to the NFL.  I would take the two equipment people who deflated the balls and give them a one year suspension.  But when you think about it, would you want known equipment people cheaters working in the NFL?  So perhaps they should be given a permanent suspension in the NFL.  And if they receive a permanent suspension in the NFL should not Brady receive one too?  So I guess in the end, Brady and all involved should be permanently suspended.

Sounds reasonable..perhaps just cutting off his right index finger would be good enough?

So you would compare letting the air out of the ball to beating your wife or child. Makes sense to me.

I think you make a good argument A-Jay. I disagree that there are no lessons to be learned from sports. You learned many of the important life lessons from people of integrity and honor. There are many who are not so fortunate though. Like it or not, our sports heroes and teams are an example to many of how real life is played. I don't think you can say it is just a game when there are so many who look to sports for life lessons. When there is no integrity in professional sports it does have consequences. The NFL and professional sports in general have a greater responsibility for more than just entertainment IMO.

The refs handle the ball every play and its their job to inspect it. The balls if doctored off the field shouldnt ever make it on the field. Or better yet let the league furnish them. As for the nfl not paying taxes thats a half truth, no the nfl hasnt tradionally per se, but the league belongs to the owners whom all pay a great deal in taxes.

I can be honest enough to admit that as a sports fan (a rapid one at that) I do sit in at least half of that seat as well.

But with regards to both the past & current track records of the participants, the potential for let down makes me waiver.

If sports do mimic real life, then this situation may be an example of why.

Perhaps it like being at the theater as a young boy during a Horror film - I'll just keep telling myself "It's only a Movie".

I've tried covering my eyes and waiting for it to be over - it just never is . . . .

Just because they slaughtered the colts and would have won anyways doesn't make it okay, this isn't the first time and won't be the last and the more they get away with it the more they will try to break the rules.

If the NFL really wanted to stop cheating, the would vacate the Pats Super Bowl win. Don't give it to the Seahawks, they didn't earn it. 2014 season has no Super Bowl Champion.

As for the Vince Lombardi trophy for that season, I suggest giving it to little Johnny Moynahan (spelling?). He seems like a good kid & if he has possession of the trophy, them Tom Brady will never see it.

I get your point but you aren't comparing apples to apples. Yes, it would be news, there would be be penalties and it would be talked about but in a different light. Even if all crimes committed were equal between the two teams, one of them potentially cheated their way into a Super Bowl trophy which 100% deserves a stiffer penalty. Its going to be a bigger story and embarrass the league being they did so and won the Super Bowl. Obviously both would be talked about in a different way...especially when one of them is notorious for getting caught cheating.
