martintheduck Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 WOW! Looks like Tracker has stepped it up. Thats pretty exciting they will be rated for a 150hp. Quote
Super User Montanaro Posted May 6, 2015 Super User Posted May 6, 2015 After the ranger rt188, tracker had to update their lineup. I'm in the market and the rt178 and 188 blew tracker out of water. Quote

grizzly1654 Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 That is a nice looking boat. The performance aluminum boat market is really stepping up. I wonder how similar it is to the Ranger of comparable package? Aren't Tracker boats and Ranger owned by the same company now? Quote
Super User HoosierHawgs Posted May 10, 2015 Super User Posted May 10, 2015 What's the base cost on that? Just curious. Quote

Super User retiredbosn Posted May 10, 2015 Super User Posted May 10, 2015 I wish I knew this one was coming out before I bought my boat. Regardless of other brands literature or advertising, tracker is the only true mod v hull manufactured. There is simply no comparison when it comes to handling, dry ride and ability to handle rough water. Aren't Tracker boats and Ranger owned by the same company now? Yes Tracker Marine bought Ranger, Stratos and Triton last year. Quote
Super User HoosierHawgs Posted May 10, 2015 Super User Posted May 10, 2015 25KWow... Figured it was more like 18-20 Quote
Matthew2000 Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Wow... Figured it was more like 18-20 Yeah you can get a 2014 triton 18XS for the price of one of those. 1 Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted May 11, 2015 Author Super User Posted May 11, 2015 Wow... Figured it was more like 18-20 With 150 HP the price tag keeps it at a minimum 25K. After you put on the proper TM and change out the battery system to 24 volt the price tag jumps up a little bit more. Throw in some good electronics and power poles, 30K easy. Crazy I know. 1 Quote
Super User Montanaro Posted May 12, 2015 Super User Posted May 12, 2015 In what ways? Thanks. The previous trackers hardly changed in many years. This new one levels playing field. Quote
MikeA57 Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 Found this in the specs listing: Pressure-treated floor & decks w/limited lifetime warranty Is this normal for these type boats? I thought they had moved away from having any wood in the boat? Or am I thinking of just in the fiberglass models? 1 Quote

Tracker has always had wood decks as far as I can remember, and I think they always will. Aluminum decks although they have advantages will effect cost. Tracker sells a lot of boats. I think the aluminum will effect their bottom line. Wood is cheaper. Just my opinion. Quote
Keith Krug Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 I've had this boat for 4 weeks and been on the water about 12 times so far. This is my 4th boat. I've primarily been a saltwater guy. (27 yrs in FL.) I've owned 17 ft. Sea Ray/100 hp for river skiing/tubing with the kids. A 21 ft. CC Mako/175hp and a 25 ft. CC Aqua sport /225hp/40 kicker. This is my first freshwater aluminum boat. Fit and finish was good. I first noticed that you can see the ripple of the ribs beneath the outer skin. No biggie for me, I was just not expecting it. Props to Alpin Haus for getting this to me before vacation. Going through the hatches and compartments there was residual aluminum shavings. Not much just a few pieces here and there. I plucked or vacuumed them out. Again, no biggie really. This package trailers really well. 2011 Titan doesn't even know it's there. Solid, smooth ride. Loads & unloads easily with one person. The 150 Merc 4 stroke is sweet. I'm not a speed demon so I typically cruise 20-35 mph range. It planes in about 2.5 seconds at 3/4 throttle. On flat water I brought it up to about 55 mph. Didn't time it but with two 250lb guys and gear it didn't take longer than 20 seconds or so. They say it'll top out at 58. I believe it. Motor comes with Merc Tempest plus SS prop. Sweet motor. Running 91 non ethanol. The boat handles really well for not having hydraulic steering. Dial in the trim and it's easy enough to steer. Very stable, very smooth. Pleasantly surprised. I've never been in another aluminum bassboat, so again I can't compare across manufacturers. This boat rides very well. Minn Kota Edge 55 is adequate. (First TM ever, never used one offshore) Yes it moves the boat around. In speed setting 5 it wants to torque steer. Admittedly I don't have the experience with it to compare with other/larger units. (Took a freakin bath when I forgot to raise the sob though. Learned that fast enough) Rod storage is great. For the year they got rid of the second bait well up front, so that is now much needed storage. For now handles and locks work good. I can guarantee there could be condensation issues down the road. For now I crack the lids before covering boat to let air circulate. I haven't used the live well yet other than to check its operation. Works as intended. I catch & release mostly. If I'm in a pristine Adirondack lake I'd consider keeping a catch for supper. Half the time I've wrapped up with water in the bilge. Half time not. Likely due to swamping the ass end when powering back to no wake quickly. These do ride low on the water. Fish finder that comes with it is useless except for water depth & temp. (Elite 3 Lowrance) they could have stepped it up a bit. I don't have the largest budget but looking at a Raymarine Dragonfly 5 pro. The fishing platform is stable and large enough to move around. I've fished three people with no problems. Two is better. Seats are comfortable. The aft seat will contact a fully raised motor though. (hopefully it buffs out) a nice line across the cowling yesterday. Now I know not to raise it too much in shallow water. The cooler is a nice feature. Too bad it doesn't have any cooling properties. It's an aluminum box with a drain. It is more appropriate for warming your dinner than holding ice for more than 2-3 hours. Any insulation around it would have made a world of difference. Basically very happy with it so far. Hit me up with any questions. Quote

Not so sure My Smokercraft 171 pro bass had a similar hull and was a better boat in terms of trade in value. Dealer even told me he wouldn't give squat for a tracker. That's about the only bad thing I can say about Tracker. They don't hold their value. Quote

I thought they had moved away from having any wood in the boat? Or am I thinking of just in the fiberglass models? One reason I wouldn't buy one. And the Nitro has a balsa wood floor. I wouldn't buy that either. No wood please ! The 2009 Smokercraft 171 pro bass I traded had a wood floor also. It was almost identical to the Tracker 175 I traded it last month and the wood floor up front wouldn't even hold a screw for the trolling motor. Got rid of that boat quickly. Quote
GMICK Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 My 2016 195 has 7 trips on it, back at BP for broken welds in transom. The mechanical steering makes for a good work out program. The 55 lb. tm is a joke only moves boat on 4 or 5. better slow down very slow or it will swamp. The boat will ride smooth in rough water, has alot of storage, very stable when fishing. Fighting with BP to take boat back, not happy at all, so dont buy one. Quote

sully420 Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 I bought a 2016 tracker pro guide 16 sc with 75hp merc and couldn't be happier. The paint job is second to none and I can't fathom how you could break a weld on that thing, and even if you did the warranty covers it. My only complaint would be the trolling motor and electronics that come with it are under whelming. Quote
GMICK Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 the pro 195 is powder coated paint, so after they weld it it will be touch up painted, which will stick out like a sore thumb. Quote

Actually all the welding is done before it is powder coated. Wouldn't really make sense the other way. 1 Quote
