I bought a 1997 17' Bass Tracker which supposedly has very little time on it and that appears to be true based on looking at the main prop, the troll motor prop, the tires, the seats, the carpet, the overall boat and trailer. Yet, when I activate the troll motor with the foot control, there is a lot of slop, it rattles and is quite noisy with the torque from being activated. Troll motor is a Motor Guide Tracker 30; it says 37 lb. thrust. It has less slop if I have it on a low speed, obviously, due to less torque. I'd like to know how to lessen this noise and jerking motion. BTW, I note that the plastic bracket that extends to the very tip of the bow has a compound fracture. I wonder if I could glue that and have it hold.

If it's the bracket I'm thinking, it's the very cheap and basic ones. It might have a little play to it. I'd make sure that it's tightened down securely to the boat. If I had to guess, that'd be where a bit of the noise is coming from.

agree.  something is most likely broken or not tightened

They may have used the rubber "T" isolators instead of bolting it through, which over time may have broken down. They look like what's shown below.

Replace the hardware or tighten... or mount altogether if you have to.

While you are at it, remove prop and washer and see if there is any line etc. in there and your problem may be solved.
