I lost a 7+ pound fish on a buzzbait on Friday and have gotten over a dozen strikes on them so far this spring, but I caught two fish on a buzzbait tonight. Thrilled to death, one of my favorite ways to catch fish.

Interestingly, I had to vary the retrieve to get them to bite. I played around with the retrieve, and finally figured out that I was causing too much commotion: so I made really quiet casts and buzzed it subsurface so that just a little of the blade was actually churning the water.

Nice. I love a good buzzbait bite. Got pics?

My sister is indecisive on whether or not she'll upgrade phones. If she does, I'm getting hers and I'll start taking pics.

Interesting, I haven't caught a lot of fish on a buzzbait, but I have caught a few.  The first time I caught one I was doing the same thing.  I was actually running it almost like a spinnerbait or maybe even a wake bait.  I lost that buzzbait in a tree, and almost cried.  At least until UPS showed up with a replacement.  It is funny though, I have yet to catch a fish on the new one, or any of the others I have bought.  I expect that it is because I was causing too much noise/commotion.  I had completely forgotten about how I caught those first ones until I read this.  Next time I am at that pond I will have to try the slower/quieter retrieve again.  Might just be the ticket, at least at this pond.

I always have trouble with buzzbaits for some reason...I actually can't remember whether I've ever caught anything on one or not. Usually I just lose patience after several casts and switch to something else.

I haven't fished a buzzbait in along time, but they sure are fun the bass seem to strike them very violently!

I always stick to the classic 3/8oz lunker lures with a trailer hook, nothing better!

I realized that I misworded this post. I have caught plenty of buzzbait fish before, these were my first buzzbait fish for 2015.
