i have many rods and many reals . the most expensive rod i have is a g loomis nrx green mag medium spinning rod , with a Shimano sustain. its really a great combo. having said that I've got a duckett m7 foot medium cranking rod  with a EXO 100. i just love it !!!!!! it casts a mile i use 12b fc sniper wire. If i had one rod that would be it.

Im going to get a med heavy . does anyone have any experience with it ?

I have a 7'3 mh micro magic paired with an exo 100hpt and it is crazy light and sensitive. I use it as my jig and plastics rod and it does the job extremely well.

They are cool looking rods.

I like my new Lews Custom Speed Stick, I use a Magnum One for worms and jigs with 20# line on a Tourny Pro.

You know I'm starting to see a lot of threads where people are saying a Duckett is the best rod they have ever used. I think they may be right.

Ive used my dads duckett and my avid alternating casts with a tex rig over same area and i liked the duckett pretty well. It was not an exact same rod/ setup though. My avid is a 6-8 m-xf and the duckett is a 7' mh-f. Both with 15lb tatsu and 3/16oz weight. I was suprised though. Duckett was very sensitive. Biggest difrence was my avid cast better with the weight but that may be diffrence in rod power too.

Are you saying you like it more than the NRX?  Just wondering.

I'd would normally find that hard to believe too but the guy I fish with most of the time has a blue NRX 802s JWR and he likes it but he likes a St. Croix Avid better. I'm in the same situation, I like my G.Loomis IMX but I like my Fenwick Aetos a lot more, so the cost doesn't always mean better depending on the person.

Exactlly right!

I'd put my discontinued Fenwick Techna AV up against any current production rod made. Call me uninformed and not technically advanced if you want.

And yes I may get my but kicked...but then again maybe not ;)

Best is subjective and I'm not looking to start an argument, but really?

I know, right?

I've got a micro guide 7ft cranking medium Duckett paired with a citica and I love it.

I can sling cranks all day on it.

Lacks a little bit of power to fight the fish.

Six pounders go where they want. But like I said it doesn't wear you out working the bait either.

This sentiment exactly.  Don't get me wrong I like my higher end rods too, but the Fenwick Elite Tech Small Mouth 6'10 M/F has been my go to rod this year (casting).  Always in the boat Fenwick Aetos/Elite Tech Smallmouth spinning rod (M/F and M/XF).  Always are in my rotation.  I use these more than my GLXs, Cumaras and Cumulus.

Dont know what nrx spinning rod it is but why are you bringing it up while talking about a cranking rod??

I didn't even realize that, not only that one is a spinning and the other is a casting.  I guess I should've paid attention.  :tongue8:

Keep a Curado 51E with 8# mono on my 6'10 MF.  It is a favorite combo for me as well.  Had to get the 6'9" M-XF spinning rod after Dan raved about it even tho I don't use a spinning rod much.  Already had the same model in a casting rod.  Like it too.  :teeth:

OP.  Can't offer any advice on the Duckett rods, but may have to invest in one myself to see what the hubbub is all about.  Seem to be well thought of for the most part.

Spinning rods, I just upgraded to the LEWS SPEED STICK and the LEWS TORNAMENT SPEED STICK rods. Not bad but I like my older stiffer Bass rods. The Shakespeare BlackBeauty, Condor. But I can use any decent reel and rod but I need good quality copolymer line. EXCALIBER SILVER THREAD.

I also picked up a all-star rod too.

I did upgrade to $100 baitcaster rods. KVD.

A little at a time.

I actually bought my father the exact same rod last Christmas. Got it to use with squarebills and shallow cranks. It's an awesome rod. He wanted a duckett ghost, but I went ahead and got the micro magic for him. I've used it a couple times and it's one of the most enjoyable rods to use that I've had my hands on. If I had the dough, I wouldn't mind having a boat full of them.

Last year I picked up a Veritas 1 7'M crankbait Rod for something like $70 on sale and it's become my favorite rod to throw shallow/med cranks and jerk baits with. It casts great, but it feels ridiculously light for an inexpensive rod. It rocks for covering water and not wearing your arm out. I was pretty weary about what to expect from a Rod for under $100, but I'm really impressed. Some of the $100-$120 rods available today really feel like what $250 rods felt like 10-15 years ago.

In my Kayak I take out 5 rods with me. Two quantum spinning rods with St.Croix avid m/h 7 ft rods, and three bait casters.

I started with one Ducket, then went to another, now all three of my casters are using them.

The 7'6 m/h cranking rod is awesome!
