levih725 Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 So I keep a small double sided plano box (not sure its exact size) and a small pole (just a dock demon from walmart but I could break down a larger pole to put in its place) behind my truck seat. I call this my emergency fishing kit in case I suddenly get a chance to go or see a spot I want to try out, I'll always have the gear I need. I'm just wandering if anyone else has something like this and if so what kinda pole or size box do you have and what tackle you keep in it. Quote
Super User Cgolf Posted May 3, 2015 Super User Posted May 3, 2015 I always have my shore bag in the truck that has 2 double 3500 boxes, 1 for plastics and 1 for cranks and extra jigs etc. I have a 6 ft 2 piece ugly spin rod and a shorter one piece pinnacle bait casting rod that stay in the truck all summer. Mine isn't for emergencies though, I try to fish a local river most days for 20 minutes on my way to work. Quote
Super User Master Bait'r Posted May 3, 2015 Super User Posted May 3, 2015 Can't say I'm set up for that but I have always wanted an orochi secret service rod set. 1 Quote

Well I call it an emergency kit, but I fish when I can, im in high school and with football, school, and work its hard to find the time. I'm always ready though!!! Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted May 7, 2015 Global Moderator Posted May 7, 2015 I've got my emergency bag and 2 combos that cover about every kind of fishing that 2 combos can cover. 1 Quote
Super User scaleface Posted May 7, 2015 Super User Posted May 7, 2015 I use to have a panel van with rod holders . So I was always ready. Living close to the mississippi river I would stop and fish somewhere almost every day. Caught lots of big bass out of drainage ditch culverts .Now all I have is a little backpack kit under the seat that is not suitable for bass . Quote
Mr Q Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Over the years I have found forgotten rods left at ponds by kids(?) and I always take them at the end of the day's fishing. I keep these in my trunk for the occasional friends that want to try bass fishing. When the discarded rigs reach two, I always seem to find a kid in the neighborhood that goes nuts when I give one to them with a few lures to start with. My "emergency" kit consists of a magnetic hide-away key box with door, ignition and trunk keys in it. Yea, I've had to use it a few times over the years Quote
kingmotorboat Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 6 ft quantum ultrex 2 piece. With 12 pound mono some 3/16 oz lead weights and some 4/0 offset round bend hooks stay in my car. Plus a pack of yum dingerz with watermelon red and junebug stay in my car Quote
kingmotorboat Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 I have an SUV. Suv? You mean a rolling tacklebox! Quote

I believe i might have something like that now. I have a silver box that locks, the pole breaks down into six pieces and has a tacklebox in it Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted May 18, 2016 Super User Posted May 18, 2016 I have two milk crates full of tackle that changes through the year and at least two rods in my car all the time. Quote
Torn Thumb Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 I have a related question because I keep my rods in the car 90% of the time. Is it true that it's not a good idea to keep rods and reels in your car due to excessive heat exposure? I don't believe that it's caused me any problems yet but I read it on the internet so it must be true. Quote
CarolinaBoy4Life Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 I don't keep any of my tackle or rod's in my vehicle due to heat. In NC it is pretty darn humid and even in 75 degree temps the car can get extremely hot while sitting all day. I worry about plastics melting mainly. I'm not sure if it could damage a rod but I don't take the chance. Quote
bralexander Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 I keep a lumbar pack with a shoulder strap in the trunk. This has 2 bottles of water, medium size plano box, pliers, and a bandanna. The plano has a bit of everything, worms, jigs, spinners, crank baits, bobbers, hooks, weights, etc. To go along with this I have a Dock Demon deluxe and Shimano 500 spinning reel spooled with 15lb braid. This setup can handle 95% of fish I could catch locally. The 36" rod is great for hard to get to spots. Bruce Quote
Jaderose Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 I'm pretty sure I have enough tackle in my car right now for a two week tournament on the Big O Quote
