Heron Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 I just tested these two(4.8) in the water today, side by side, and let me tell ya... Yes indeed....the Tail Slapper is absolutely every bit of an equal to the Keitech Fat swing impact. It performs just as good, or rather, great, with more durability and nearly half the price. With these, I will probably never buy another Keitech Fat again, unless the Tail Slapper doesn't have the color Im looking for. Quote
robster80 Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 good to hear. ive got a cpl packs of the kicker fish myself but havent used em yet. gonna try em out tomorow Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted May 3, 2015 Super User Posted May 3, 2015 Did you test these at ultra slow speeds. almost at a crawl? I've never found anything equivalent to a Keitech's movement where you can fish it as slow /w the same amount of action. 2 Quote
BW208 Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 I've done the same and in my opinion the tail slappers do not have as good of action. That being said I still use them and they catch fish. I mostly use them for trailers though. Quote

I fish the: Keitech Swing Impact FAT Kicker Fish Tail Slapper Bass Assassin Boss Shiner Swimbait Although all very similar none have the super slow action that the Keitech have. In my opinion well worth the extra money. To me anyway. Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted May 3, 2015 Super User Posted May 3, 2015 Interesting results. The Keitech is much softer, has a better action during slow retrieve speeds, plus has the built in squid scent. It is kind of like the discussion of true GY senkos vs other brands similar offerings. Among the picky die hard users looking for very subtle differences there is no replacing the original. For others that look at cost as basis for their evaluation they may not notice or need what difference there may be. For me I wont use substitutions for the Keitech baits. I know they arent that durable but to me the subtle differences account for more fish plus I use the extension extensive color selection to match to my swim jigs. Quote

I surely did...and yes, even at ultra slow speeds, the Tail Slapper still matched the Keitech nicely. Even for the 4.8 size. Quote

Heron Posted May 3, 2015 Author Posted May 3, 2015 I just went down to the pond to test them both again just to make sure, and the results were the same. I saw no difference at all between the two brands, even at the slowest of retrieve speeds. Even at a dead fall, and as well at a slow bottom crawl. Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted May 3, 2015 Super User Posted May 3, 2015 Well, I cant imagine what youre seeing that's different than mine. i'm more interested in what you're seeing that nobody else is. you should shoot a video on your phone to show us. Be neat to see.maybe we got some bad tail slappers. who knows. Quote
Super User webertime Posted May 4, 2015 Super User Posted May 4, 2015 On a jighead or swimbait hook? I think on a jighead they are really close. Swimbait hook... not even close. Keitech wins. Quote

hatrix Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 I don't know why everyone says keitech are not that durable. i think there durability is more then reasonable. They are way more durable then others like a shadalicious but they are far from basstrix durability. Use a screw lock hook and use a drop of superglue so it doesn't pull out. 1 Quote
