halochef Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 well just like bass fishing tourneys or being a pro "it's a grind" AMERICAN PHAROAH the derby winner will more and likely be the preakness favorite. 9/5 2-1 or lower. not as many entries in this race. one will view many of the same horses from the derby and other horses 3yo only who just preped for this race eg FEDERICO TESIO. and just like the KD derby for all 3 yo's the BLACK EYED SUSAN is for fillies ONLY. the fri before. just 2 weeks away for both races. ps. in most races the favorite wins 33-35% of the time in the preakness it jumps to 42-45% of the time Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted May 3, 2015 Super User Posted May 3, 2015 Speaking of the Derby, did anyone else notice the girls/ladies carrying a banner advertising the big Mayweather/Pacquiao fight tonight? NBC didn't stay too long with the shot. Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted May 3, 2015 Super User Posted May 3, 2015 That horse broke so clean ( AP ) from his position Honestly it was perfect.. I didn't know if that location would hurt him or not.. Gary Stevens just didnt quite have enough horse to win. I'm not a lover of horse racing, but the horse's are magnificent animals..AP had the lungs & legs to win it.. Good stuff! Quote

halochef Posted May 6, 2015 Author Posted May 6, 2015 looks like 10 may go in the preakness. 6 from the derby. one INTERNATIONAL STAR(SCR FOR THE DERBY) and 3 more. AMERICAN PHAROAH even money 1-1 maybe 9/5. if you get 2-1 or 5/2, might take it others Bodhisattva Carpe Diem Divining Rod Competitive Edge<----OUT Danzig Moon Dortmund Firing Line International Star<------OUT? halochef Posted May 11, 2015 Author Posted May 11, 2015 i have viewed 6 confirmed in the preaknss. will view more on wed with post draw. looks like AMERICAN PHAROAH may be a very short price.and the EX and TRI may also be short if the top 3 in the derby race and finish the 1-2-3.. may see a "bridge jumper" in this race this year Quote

AMERICAN PHARAOH BODHISATTVA DANZIG MOON DIVINING ROD DORTMOUND FIRING LINE TALE OF VERVE GRAND BILI<------mayb a real short field. T Pletcher keeps 2 horses out as he doesnt like to race within 2 weeks. CARPE DEIM, MATERIALTY out. the other horses along w/ pletchers will point to the Belmont Stakes first week of june. There will also be other horses we dont see in the derby or preakness in the belmont. but the belmont is not the last race for these 3yo's. big break as at the end of july at Monmonth park in NJ. the HASKELL will be run. SARATOGA opens mid july with two more races for the 3yo's THE JIM DANDY 3y0.s and up, and THE TRAVERS. aka MID SUMMER DERBY, one more later on the JOCKEY GOLD CUP 3yo's and up, at belmont. also 2yo;s will start preping for their 3yo year this time of year. many of these horses pointed for the the BREEDERS CUP late oct or early nov. One race at the breeders cup is for JUVENILE 2YO'S only. and some of these horses, who will turn 3yo jan !st(universal birthday for horses) will start the prep for another Kentucky derby Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted May 12, 2015 Super User Posted May 12, 2015 You enjoying the banter by yourself here? Lol, just kidding.. Carpe Deim is a beautiful strong looking animal but ran poorly in the derby... I'm not surprised he was not entered.. Firing line & AP are strong horse.. I pick firing line myself.. 1 Quote

Super User MCS Posted May 12, 2015 Super User Posted May 12, 2015 I had the trifecta of dortmund, firing line and frosted and I will keep those. I would have loved to see frosted here but even more so at belmont, too bad went too wide at derby as the motor was just getting going. Pharoh start is everything, if the derby played out at pimlico we might have a different winner because pharoh was behind til the final furlong. I say if paroh isn't in front out the gate or runs another slow to start race, it ain't gonna take it. if I was betting money is on dortmund to win, firing line to place.... 1 Quote
