Regularly risking the tip of a $100 rod to have a chance at getting a bait that is worth at most $10 out of a tree/stump/rock

$10! I'll do it to knock a T rig lose  :dazed-7:

Just last week, I found my anchor I had been looking for to use in my jon boat. It sure came in handy on this particular lake. When I found it, I noted that the rope was ragged but it was plenty heavy enough for the small anchor. It crossed my mind to wonder if the rope was good, as the anchor had been sitting outside for a couple years. I tugged on the rope hard as I could and it felt ultra strong. Wrong. Dropped it over the side the second time on the lake and the rope broke. I felt like an idiot to lose that perfectly good $20 anchor. Would have been so easy to just put a new rope on.

While attempting to unhook a nice smallie my wife had caught on a trip to northern Wisconsin, I ended up hooking my right hand past the barb.  I'm right handed and there was no way the wife was going to remove it.  I cut the split ring and the other two hooks off and covered it with a bandage.  I continued fishing for around four hours, then drove six hours to get home before having it removed.

What can I say but, the smallies were being cooperative and there was no way I was getting off the water before dark.

After reading all of these posts It is apparent that there is a very fine line between crazy and stupid.

Going into a snake infested creek after a $3 crabkbOt

I one time watched a buddy swim across a deep pool in a snake and gar infested creek just to retrieve a Hula Popper.

I drove two hours to bass pro shop.  I bought a Shimano Crucial Rod (old original version by the way).  Drove home, fished it for 15 minutes, and it broke 4 inches from the top.  I drove back, exchanged it for another just like.  Drove home, fished the newer rod, it broke in same spot on the first fish.  I drove back the next day, again, for the third time. That was about $120+ in gas. Stupid...

I picked up G Loomis IMX 844C on the last trip.  I have been fishing for about 8 years now.

Just in case, I have the previous version cranking crucial and love it.

Recently I was in Costa Rica fishing from an SUP everyday in the surf.... got flipped by a wave and lost my pole... the next day I did the same exact thing!!!  couldn't believe it. talk about not learning your lesson Ha ha.  spent the next couple weeks snorkeling a couple times a day looking for those poles and never found 'em... where do they go????  on the bright side I caught a ton of fish so I guess it was a trade off.

Waded 550 yds (a guy used his range finder to see how far we went) offshore at The Point in Hatteras chasing drum. When drumming you wear a bait box on your wader belt to keep nice bloody chunks of bunker so you can fish several baits.

My buddy Puppy Mullet is 6'4". I let him go first (human depth finder) as we're wading out I notice a 6' sand tiger shark about 20' behind Puppy (I was about 30' behind him) I let him know about our wading partner and he hit it on the head with his heaver and it swam off.

When we got to the bar I commented about how the water sloshing through the bait box probably left a nice chum slick. He then said it wasn't a problem as he kept his bait in a zip lock bag in the bait box.

He noticed the look on my face and asked if my (non existent) zip lock was keeping my bait from getting mushy.....

I then realized, I was the one chumming....

Another time we were on Ocracoke. It was after midnight and he caught a car hood size clear nosed ray. It was warm and we were out there in shorts and no shoes. We decided to get a picture of him holding the ray by the nose to get good picture. As the flash went off on the camera I notice the ray was having babies... Them little rays came out rolled up like a burrito. As soon as they hit the wash they unfolded and raised their tails with the barbs up.

We froze.... Lucky none of us got stung...

I've got a bunch of stories about crazy things you see in the surf......

It's a good thing she didn't catch you.  (grin)
