BW208 Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 Dead horse beater here, Looking for a spinning setup for stull like drop shot, senko, finesse worms, etc. I am looking at a few rods like the powell Diesel, Duckett Micro Magic, Phenix Maxim, etc. Whats your guys' advice here? Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted May 2, 2015 Super User Posted May 2, 2015 The BPS Extreme and Bionic Blade rods are good options, as are the Abu Veritas Series. For reels, all I use are pflueger presidents. They are better than many reels that cost twice as much. Quote
BW208 Posted May 2, 2015 Author Posted May 2, 2015 Looking at this. Seems like a good deal. http://www.***.com/Okuma_Concept_C3-40X_Spinning_Rods/descpage-0CS.html Quote
Starchalopakis Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 Like others , I have a Pflueger President which I paired with a Berkely Lightning rod. Which I am very happy with. 1 Quote
Jaderose Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 President matched with a Shimano Sellus. Less than $100 and you have a very nice set up that I've caught many many LMB's on and will throw lighter stuff very nicely. Quote
BW208 Posted May 2, 2015 Author Posted May 2, 2015 Thanks guys. I guess I will head to sportsmans warehouse later today and see what I can find. Quote
BW208 Posted May 3, 2015 Author Posted May 3, 2015 Ended up getting a phenix maxium medium light 6'10" feels light to me but I'm so used to med heavy and heavy casting stuff lol. What do you guys think about them? Quote
EvanT123 Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 I don't know anything about Phenix but medium light is my favorite power for spinning. You would be suprised at what they can handle. Enjoy the new rod!!! Quote
BW208 Posted May 3, 2015 Author Posted May 3, 2015 Now line choice. I bought seaguar 8lb fluorocarbon but I also have some 30lb braid. What do you guys suggest for light fishing in ponds and around structure like grass. I use 15lb fluorocarbon on my casting rods no problem so idk... Quote
