I may have found my new career field. Both are sounding promising to me. If I go to commeracial dive school. I get certified as a commercial diver, underwater welder, and as a Dive Medic Technician. Which ofrets me the option to sit the state and national EMT tests as a EMT Basic. This is what I am currently thinking of doing. Underwater welders make boocoo money and I know this. Plus it's fun. I can weld for a bit then go be an EMT, electrician, or distribution e instructor, or welder. The possibilities are endless.

If I go with option B. I return to school and become a EMT Medic. It takes 2 years and pays alright. My girlfriend is both a journeyman electrician and EMT Medic. So we could both go work in the same field that way too. I am honestly intrigued by both options.

I've been doing some research on diving myself recently. (not for employment reasons but as part of a work project).

Here's some basic info you might be interested in.

Good Luck

You know that's right. When I was taking dive classes back in college we were practing bailouts. I jumped in the pool. My weight belt slipped off my arm and I shot straight back to the surface.

Well if it something you want to do then go for it but i can tell you that it is a tough job with a very high propensity for injury.  My uncle did it and said he would never do it again.  On a side note, he was seriously injured and got a settlement and bought some oceanfront property in mexico...it was all jungle pretty much and now i think the name of the place is Cancun :)  Needless to say he is pretty well off right now but at the expense of his health....

Got to have a little adventure in life. We all gonna go someday. I figure I might as well make the most out of it while I'm here. Hell, I aint think I would make it this long.

Sorry to hear about your uncles injury.

Yeah it happens...he got the bends really bad or something.  I want to say he did the type of stuff where you stay down for a day or two at a time in some diving bell type deal and then it takes another day or two to come back up...

He is doing well now...he built a marina and a jet ski rental business and sold that off and now has a house on the beach in cancun and a castle in panama...dude is crazy though lol

I'm a padi diver, I wanted to weld underwater myself in about 80, school was a 2 year wait same as Seabee training..(USN) so I skipped that and went another route.. Still, I've dove offshore in Fl. and Puerto Rico.. Seriously fun & dangerous.. Spear shot a 75 pd amberjack 25 miles off the coast of Jacksonville. Fish tried to kill me! Geez, what a battle. Do you panic easily? If so, skip it.. If your pretty cool under fire ( or water lol) give it a whirl. It's worth the cost. Do you smoke? ( big no no ) how bout if you get a high nitrogen ( ambient ) tank of air & you get cotton mouth so bad you feel stoned? Lol, geez, I could go on, it ain't exactly a cakewalk but the rewards are well worth it. If you don't do it for a career change, still do it for the Rec.. I was strangely humored watching noobs have to remove the mask, drop it, locate it, then pull it back on & clear it. Many panic & shoot for the surface, not the deal in diving. If your suspended at 100' and loose your mask, well, don't panic! Hopefully you have a great dive buddy.. If not, well, that's another story..

I dont know anyhing about welding but EMT, medic etc are callings. Be prepared to laugh, cry, keep your lunch down and wonder why it all happens at the same time

Handling blood, guts and assorted bodily fluids is the easy part...
